ASME Section IX, Edition 2015: Welding Procedures and Welders Qualification Training Duration:

14 hours total (2 days x 7 hours) (Certificate of Attendance will be provided)

DESCRIPTION In the pressure vessel, piping, pipeline, chemical and oil, and gas industries, the ASME Section IX Welding and Brazing Code is the usual reference for welding procedures and welder qualification requirements. This training will cover the welding section of the ASME Section IX Code, including relevant details, for writing and qualifying welding procedures and for the welders qualification test. OBJECTIVES This course targets those who are interested in acquiring a better understanding of welding variables, their importance from a metallurgical point of view, and their impact on weld execution. This includes inspectors, engineers, supervisors, and professionals involved with pressure components and piping welding. The goal of this course is to be able to understand, write, and qualify for WPS/PQR and WPQ. Upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to: Read and understand a welding procedure (WPS) and the welder qualification form (PQR). Understand the requirements of the ASME section IX 2015. Write a welding procedure and welding procedure qualification record, considering the essential and supplementary essential variables and including specifics project requirements. Understand and write a welders qualification form (WPQ). Understand and consider the requirements of additional codes. ASME Section IX, Edition 2015: Welding Procedures and Welders Qualification PROGRAM (2 Days) NOTE: The brazing (QB) and plastic fusion (QF) sections are not covered in this course. 1. ASME Section IX description and relation with other related codes: a. ASME (Sections I, IV, VIII, B31.1, and B31.3) b. Alberta regulations, CSA B51 c. Other codes and standards, API, etc. 2. General section QG of ASME Section IX 3. ASME Section IX Section QW a. Relation with other ASME codes: i. ASME Section VIII Div 1 ii. Article V QW-5xx, Standard welding procedures specifications The training will alternate between theoretical presentations and exercises to be performed by the attendees. It is highly recommended that participants bring with them the ASME section IX 2015 Code to better follow the training as well as any materials necessary to complete the exercises (pen, notepad, etc.)
