BACKGROUND
COURSE CONTENT
With an influential power over the world’s economy, China has become one of the most important market. Considering 1 in every 5 people on Earth speaks Mandarin Chinese, being able to speak Mandarin Chinese will definitely open up one’s career perspective.

The course, provided by Taiwan Education Centre, aims to equip basic competence in Mandarin Chinese, especially focusing on daily conversation. Practical speaking and listening competence are developed through practice in different daily situations. Traditional character (正體字) will be the usage of the course. The course will also introduce Chinese culture, including explanation of certain holidays. Organised by

Two certificates* will be provided by Centre for Continuing Education, IIT Madras and Taiwan Education Program in India, to students who participate, and complete the course respectively. * The certificates issued cannot be used to transfer credits in IIT Madras.
COURSE MATERIAL • Practical Audio-visual Chinese, Zheng Zhong and Tsai Fong Books, 2nd Edition. • Textbook can be purchased in class but not compulsory. • Each registered student will be provided with handout in each class.
