Course Description:
Components, methods and technologies required for network and Internet communications (NAT, Layer 2 protocols, Broadband). Troubleshooting network problems using a layered model approach. Use of network monitoring protocols to access information of network performance. Use of site to site security connections for securing transmission through the Wide Area Network (WAN).

Course Outcomes:
Describe the various technologies used for connecting to a WAN. Troubleshoot WAN implementation issues. Configure and verify various Layer 2 protocols on routers (HDLC, PPP, Frame Relay, and Broadband).
Configure, verify, and troubleshoot IP services on a router. Configure Network Address Translation (NAT) operations and troubleshoot NAT issues.
Explain network design concepts, principles, models and architecture and the benefits that are obtained by using a systematic approach.
Explain the concepts and process related to VPNs as well as the benefits of VPNs implementations and the underlying protocols to configure VPNs.
Explain, describe and configure the three protocols that a network administrator can use to monitor the network (Syslog, SNMP, and Netflow). Describe the different strengths and weaknesses of each protocol. Understand what is happening on a network.

Assessment Retake Guidelines For a lab or homework assignment you have unlimited attempts to score an 80% or better. After 2 submissions for the same task, you will need to demonstrate substantial engagement with additional resources and engage with the course instructor before the task will be released for revision and resubmission. To pass the Chapter Tests, you must score 80% or higher. If you do not succeed with your first attempt, contact your instructor for guidance and further instructions. You may be permitted to take the Chapter Tests a second time, per your instructor's approval. To pass the Final Assessments (exam and skills based assessment), you must score 80% or higher. If you do not succeed with your first attempt at the Final, contact your instructor for guidance and further instructions. You may be permitted to take the Final Exam a second time, per your instructor's approval.
