SUMMARY OF DANIEL 7-12 Contains 4 visions that take place over about 22 years. CHAPTER 7: THE VISION OF THE FOUR BEASTS Chronologically chap 7 & 8 take place between chapters 4 and 5. This vision expands chap. 2 and ends the Aramaic section of Daniel. Four Kingdoms: Lion = Babylon, Bear = MedePersian, Leopard = Greece, non-descript beast = Roman. Antichrist introduced in Dan. 7:11-12. Antiochus Epiphanes OT representation of Antichrist. Sacrificed pig on altar in Jewish Temple. Key Vs. 13-14, 17, 22, 23-24, 27 CHAPTER 8: THE RAM & GOAT (MEDE-PERSIA & GREECE) The notable horn, this is ref. to Greece’s King Alexander the Great. The little horn of vs 9-15 not to be confused with the little horn of Dan 7:8 and Rev.13. This little horn arises out of 4 generals that took over Greek Empire it is OT Antichrist Antiochus Epiphanes. Key Vs. 20-22 CHAPTER 9: LIFE CHANGING PRAYER AND DANIEL’S 70 WEEKS Chronologically takes place probably right before chap 6. Daniel’s beautiful prayer of confession for himself and his people brought on by reading the Word of God and realizing that by the calendar, the 70 years of Babylonian captivity is just about up. He pleads to God to now do what He already said he would, free Israel. God’s messenger Gabriel comes to Daniel and gives him in 4 verses the prophecy of what will take place with Israel until the end time, referred to as the 70 weeks. We learned that the weeks stand for years times 7 and in 69 weeks x 7 = 483 years was Jesus’ Triumphal Entry. The final week is yet unfulfilled and is the 7 years of the Tribulation talked about in Rev. Key Vs. Neh 2:8; Dan 9:20-21, 24-27. CHAPTER 10: BATTLES WITHIN OUR HEARTS & IN SPIRITUAL REALM Daniel is burdened and overwhelmed because of the apathy of his people in rebuilding the Temple. We learn here of great spiritual battles that take place when we pray and that for 21 days Gabriel and Michael do battle against Satan’s angels. Key Vs. 13-14 CHAPTER 11: BATTLE FOR GREECE & DETAILS OF EMPIRE The details of this chapter force many to believe that Daniel could not have been written before they took place, yet Jesus’ reference to Daniel’s writings Matt. 24:15 prove otherwise. Mainly deals with General Ptolemy (Egypt) and Seleucus (Syria) 2 generals for Alex. The Great. Antiochus E. Vs. 21 – seems to take a turn at Vs. 35. At Vs. 40 as far as history records Antiochus never attacked Egypt again. Key Vs. 40, 46. CHAPTER 12: RESURRECTION & REWARD, THE PROPHETIC SEAL Key Vs. Rev 16:13-16, 20:4-6 Dan 12:2-3,13.
