Mission House Renovation Update Excitement and enthusiasm are building as the project progresses! Architects’ Report: The blueprints for the renovation are in the final stages, and in about three weeks, we will apply to the city for the building permit. In about five weeks time, plans will go out for bid. Construction is expected to begin after April 1st. Building Report: Plans are being developed for relocating the parish offices to the parish center around midMarch. The Mission House should be completely vacated, including storage and removal of most, if not all items by April 1st. In the meantime, we will be going though each room to determine what stays, and what gets packed up to move or be stored. Once this is determined, the plan is to move operations in one day. Yes, we will accept all hands willing to help on that day! Finance Report: We currently have $1,026,246 in pledges and $928,897 cash in savings. The pledged amount includes offers of in-kind donations which greatly help with our finances. Please continue to pray for the success of our restoration project! Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Training - Fr. Mariusz will conduct a training session on Saturday, February 3rd after First Saturday 8 am Mass. All who are interested please attend the training. All are invited to attend First Saturday Mass. 2018 Contribution Envelopes - This is the last weekend that Contribution envelopes are available in the back of the church. First Friday Eucharistic Adoration

You were alone, Lord. Keep me from forgetting that.”

FOOD for THOUGHT… Here's How Much Salad You Should Eat to Keep Your Brain 11 Years Younger. A new study found that eating greens can protect against memory loss. If you weren't allowed to leave the dinner table without eating your greens as a kid, you're probably not alone. We've all known our entire lives that salad is good for you, packing essential nutrients—protein, iron, fiber, and more—into your diet. But we're also willing to bet you didn't know just how good salads are, especially for your brain. A recent study published in the journal Neurology found that eating one to two servings of leafy greens a day improves your memory and overall cognitive ability. Martha Clare Morris, Sc.D., a nutritional epidemiologist at Rush University Medical Center, and her colleagues looked at 960 people ages 58 to 99 years old over an average of 4.7 years. Participants completed a questionnaire of how often they ate foods like spinach, salad, and kale, or collards. Those who consumed the most ate around 1.3 servings a day and those who consumed the fewest ate around 0.1 servings a day. Morris and her team followed up with participants for 10 years and found that the brains of people who ate salads the most were "the equivalent of being 11 years younger in age." https://www.menshealth.com/ nutrition/eating-salads-every-day-boosts-brain-health By Danielle Zickl, December 21, 2017
