Session II: Training Impact Assessment Session II will discuss tools, criteria and practices for impact of training evaluation, evaluation of quality of training delivered and the assessment of trainees. It will highlight lessons learned and spell out challenges. A catalogue of lessons learned will be drawn from the discussion. Pre-deployment training of civilian crisis management personnel: challenges, lessons learned, good practices International workshop 24 October 2014 Rome - Italy
Explanatory note The overall objective of this international workshop, organised within the ENTRi framework, is to discuss aspects related to pre-deployment training for seconded and contracted staff of CSDP and other International Organisations’ missions and operations and identify challenges, lessons learned and good practices. The seminar aims to be an avenue to reflect on the necessary synergies between PDT and mission induction and in mission training. This to – contribute to reduce overlapping and to create strong ties and linkages between pre and in mission training; – foster a higher quality course planning; – display good practices to use as models for further streamlining the civilian crisis management missions’ personnel training cycle. The results of such an exercise could also constitute the basis for discussions on the linkages between pre-deployment and mission induction training during the meeting on Training of CSDP Missions and Operations Personnel, organised by EEAS which will take place on 28-29 October 2014. The workshop will see the participation of CIVCOM Delegates, national focal points for recruitment of staff for international missions, training institutions, relevant IOs (especially relevant EU structures and offices). The activity will be based on the lessons learned from a workshop conducted in the course of the first ENTRI project phase: the workshop “Ensuring Training Effectiveness: Challenges and Opportunities in the Field” held in Copenhagen in February 2012. The seminar is organized as a back-to-back activity with two experts meetings organized in the same venue during the Italian Presidency and focused on EU-UN Partnerships in Crisis Management and Operations: Best Practices and Next Steps with an emphasis on capabilities (22 October) and training (23 October)
