Welcome to the 14th Annual Highland Bull Sale! It is with our great pleasure that we invite you to Bragg Creek on March 18th. The Limousin offering will include two year olds and yearling bulls, polled, red and black. Our yearling bulls were once again fed at Cattleland and our two year olds were fed on our place in Bragg Creek. Our Limousin bulls all have genetic profile to determine, either by pedigree or by test, whether they are homozygous polled or homozygous black. Besides raising and selling high performance bulls, we are striving to become a HOMOZYGOUS Polled herd. We believe this the most important trait we can pass to commercial producers. All bulls will be semen tested and on sale day a supplement sheet will be provided with sale day weights and scrotal measurements. We are once again happy to partner with Thane & Kerri Russell, Foxwood Farm, Cochrane, Alberta for a powerful set of Angus yearling bulls, that Rob & Amanda selected and were also fed at Cattleland Feedyards in Strathmore. We will again be offering a Sight Unseen Plan- if you are unable to attend the sale and wish to purchase, you may contact anyone of the sale staff and we will help you fill your order. When the bull is delivered to you if you are

not satisfied we will then take the bull back at no cost to you. We will help with delivery arrangements and deliver free up to 300 miles—but would greatly appreciated if any bulls could be picked up sale day or no later than May 1st. We would like you to know that you can buy from our program with confidence, as our family has been involved with the Angus Breed since 1905- Rob’s greatgrandfather F.R. Cathro of Casa Loma Farms; and 1932 – Rob’s grandfather, Charles Matthews of Highland Stock Farms; and the Limousin breed since 1970 – Don and Rob Matthews, Highland Stock Farms and continuing with fifth generation, Amanda Matthews-Haywood and Laura Matthews-Clarke. His mother is our oldest female in our Highland herd at 13 years of age, a former show heifer of Amanda’s. Her sons have been purchased by Len Wylie, Tom Dawson, Bob Taylor, Brad Larkins and Brad & Shane Lutz. We have retained her only daughter.

Maternal brothers have sold to Karsen Legault and Clayton Currie and there are two maternal sisters at Highland. 112N was shipped last fall as a 13 year old plus cow. Karsen’s bull tied for the high selling red bull last year.

Every bull buyer who purchases a bull from an ALA member in good standing, is eligible for the draw, providing the transfer of ownership has been received by the Canadian Limousin Association no later than May 1, 2017. Eligibility: • All buyers of registered Limousin, Lim-Flex or percentage bulls sold between January 1st, 2017 and April 30, 2017; • Every purchase will result in an entry for the draw and is not restricted to Alberta residents. Conditions: • Seller must be an ALA member in good standing; • Request for transfer of ownership must be received at the CLA office by May 1, 2017; • Sales of bulls could be via auction or private treaty.
