I AM ANOINTED I. 2 Cor 1:21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, A. This passage reveals two things God does for every Born Again, Spirit filled believer: 1. Establishes us: Def: stabiliate, stedfast, stable a. When God saves us He provides the means by which our walk with God can be stable 2. Anointed us: Def: to smear or to rub with oil, to consecrate to an Office a. When you receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit, thru the Baptism in the Holy Ghost: (1) God rubs on, smears you with Holy Ghost power: (a) Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; (1) Def Power: dunamis / dynamite Power, miraculous power, violence (a) This is not speaking of a violence to commit evil (b) Rather it is speaking of a Holy Ghost, violent power to destroy the works of the devil (1) Acts 10: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. B. God our Heavenly Father anointed us with the same Holy Ghost That He anointed Jesus with: 1. God filled us with the same dunamis / power that came upon Jesus When the Holy Ghost came upon Him after He was water baptized In Matt 3:16 a. 2 Cor 1:21 “He ….(God Our Father)…hath anointed us” 2. We each need to be convinced of whom dwells within us as believers: a. 1 John 2:20 “But you have an anointing from the Holy One,” b. 1 John 2:27 “But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you,” (1) Def abides: that which is resident in you 3. Have you learned to tap into the treasure that abides in you? a. 2 Cor 4:7 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” a. Def Treasure: a deposit 1
b. “earthen vessels”: we are the earthen vessel c. and God has deposited the treasure of His excellent power (1) Def Power: dunamis / dynamite: miraculous power, violence 4. 1 Cor 6:19 “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of The Holy Ghost” a. The temple of the anointing b. The temple of the miraculous power of God II. The anointing will manifest in our lives two primary ways: • #1 The anointing within us • #2 The anointing upon us A. The anointing within us is the indwelling or abiding presence of God In our life 1. The anointing upon us is the manifested presence of God on your Life B. The anointing within is the authority of God in your life 1. The anointing upon is the display of God’s power in your life C. The anointing within is the passive anointing: meaning resident 1. The anointing upon is active and expressive D. God has anointed us not only with the same anointing as Jesus But, God has anointed us for the same purpose as Jesus: 1. 1 John 3:8 For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. a. Def Destroy: (1) to loose any person or thing tied or fastened (2) To loose one bound, to unbind (3) To release from bonds (4) To set free one bound in bandages or chains (5) To discharge from prison, let go (6) to dissolve, dismiss, break up (7) to deprive of authority whether by act or precept (8) to declare unlawful (9) to demolish or overthrow (a) Just as God has anointed Jesus to destroy the works of the devil (b) 1 Cor 1:21 “He which…. hath anointed us is God: so that we may continue the Ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, by destroying the works of the devil off of the lives of people today: 2
III. Things the anointing will do in us and thru us: A. The anointing is the burden removing, yoke destroying power of God 1. Isa 10:27 It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be Taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil B. The anointing is a divine enabler 1. Zech 4:6"This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says the LORD of hosts. 7'Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of "Grace, grace to it!" ' " a. the anointing is a divine enabling to do what we cannot do with our natural talent, might or power C. The anointing is the impartation of God’s Grace & Crown resting Upon us: 1. Lev 21:12 ; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD. KJV a. This passage of scripture is speaking of the consecrating of the Old Testament High priest (1) Note: the ”crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him” 2. Jesus has made us Kings and priests: 1 Pet. 2: 5 & 9 a. Just as the Old Testaments priests were anointed for so is the Born Again Believer as a Priest of God b. Old Testament, the King was also anointed when set into office (1) Jesus has also anointed us when he made us a spiritual king: (2) In the spirit realm The Holy Ghost places a “CROWN OF THE ANOINTING OIL OF HIS GOD” upon our heads so we may: (a) ”REIGN IN LIFE THROUGH ONE, ” JESUS CHRIST” Rom 5:17 (1) EVERYONE SAY: “I AM ANOINTED” IV. When you read the Word of God, you will find the anointing in every book of the bible: A. Genesis: the anointing is: 1. The Spirit of God moving upon the face of the waters 2. Noah’s dove and rainbow 3. Abraham & Sarah’s visitations 4. Jacob’s ladder 5. Joseph dreams & interpretations B. Exodus: the anointing is: 1. Moses basket 3
2. the rod of signs & wonders 3. pillar of cloud by day & pillar of fire by night 4. power of God’s deliverance C. Leviticus: the anointing is: 1. Holy oil for the priest D. Numbers: the anointing is: 1. Aaron’s rod that budded 2. the reverser of Balaam’s curse 3. the shout of the king in our midst E. Deuteronomy: the anointing is: 1. manna and dew coming down from heaven 2. allegiance to the covenant F. Joshua: the anointing is: 1. the splitting of the River Jordan 2. the trumpet blast that made Jericho’s wall fall down 3. the sun & moon standing still G. Judges: the anointing is: 1. Samson’s spirit of might 2. Deborah’s song H. Ruth: the anointing is: 1. The favor and wealth of Boaz I. 1 Samuel: the anointing is: 1. Samuel’s horn of oil 2. David’s harp 3. David’s slingshot J. The faithfulness of God who has called you & will do it AAA. 2 Thess: the anointing is: 1. The Spirit of The Lord’s mouth to consume the wicked 2. The recompense of trouble to them that are in trouble BBB. 1 Tim: the anointing is: 1. the gift given through prophecy & the laying on of hands of the elders 2. Apostolic ordination 3. the infallibility of the God‐breathed scriptures CCC. 2 Tim: the anointing is: 1. The Spirit of love, power & sound mind DDD. Titus: the anointing is: 1. the blessed hope of Christ’s glorious appearing EEE. Philemon: the anointing is: 1. The sharing of our faith FFF. Hebrews: the anointing is: 1. Alive & shaper than a two edged sword 2. The Eternal Spirit 3. The Spirit of Grace 4. The better Name, better priesthood, better covenant, & Blood of Jesus 9

Jude: the anointing is: 1. The prophecy of Enoch declaring The Lord’s second coming 2. building up our most holy faith….praying in the Holy Ghost NNN. Revelation: the anointing is: 1. The second coming of Jesus Christ The Messiah 2. The King of kings and Lord of lords V. 2 Cor 1:21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, 22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. A. God our Heavenly Father has anointed us: 1. and given us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee: a. Def guarantee: speaking of a deposit, down payment 2. There will come a day for every Born Again believer who has faithfully lived for God: a. to receive a glorified body & live in eternity with The Lord 10

But, for now, while we are still here upon the earth a. fighting the fight of faith b. we are not left helpless, nor hopeless: c. we have been given a deposit (1) we have been given a treasure (2) we have been given spiritual power (3) we have been given overcoming power (4) we have been given power over all the power of the enemy (a) the devil, demons, sickness, disease, poverty & defeat (5) 1 John 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, B. Altar Call: two fold 1. If you have never been baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence Of speaking in tongues: a. The Lord desires to fill you with His spirit today b. thus releasing a greater dimension of the Power of God in your life’ (1) Acts 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. (a) come to the altar to receive 2. If saved, & filled with the Holy Spirit: a. and you need a fresh in filling / a fresh baptism of God’s power as seen in (1) The same believers who were filled with the Holy Ghost in Acts 2 Received a fresh infilling is: (a) Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and They spoke the word of God with boldness.
