International Journal of Women’s Dermatology ABOUT THE JOURNAL The IJWD publishes articles pertaining to dermatologic medical, surgical and cosmetic issues faced by female patients and their children. We are interested in original research articles, review articles, unusual case reports, new treatments, clinical trials, education, mentorship and viewpoint articles. Very important articles will have accompanying editorials. Topics which our subsection editors look forward to welcoming include acneiform disorders, inflammatory skin conditions, infections, including sexually transmitted diseases, autoimmune conditions, blistering diseases, vitiligo, skin of colour, hair and nail disorders, skin cancers, pregnancy and childbirth, pediatric dermatology, vulvar/genital disorders, psychodermatology, surgical issues, laser/peel/ cosmetic procedures, and dermatopathology. Articles dealing with ethical issues in dermatology and medical legal scenarios are also welcome. We aim for rapid peer review from the academic leadership of the WDS as well as experts throughout the world. We will have open access of the accepted peer-reviewed articles even before the final proofs are compiled, allowing the work to be available as soon as possible. We cater to an audience of dermatologists, scientists, educational experts, family practitioners, pediatricians, gynecologists and obstetricians, plastic surgeons, rheumatologists, internists, family physicians and pharmacologists. PROVIDING A FORUM RELEVANT TO WOMEN AND FAMILIES The mission of the Women’s Dermatologic Society is to support dermatologists by striving to: • • • • • •
promote leadership, promote the development of relationships through mentoring and networking, demonstrate a commitment to service through community outreach and volunteerism, provide a forum for communications and research relevant to women’s and family issues, advocate excellence in patient care and education, and promote the highest ethical standards.
The fourth goal of providing a forum for communications and research relevant to women’s and family issues will be addressed and advanced in our new peer reviewed journal. The IJWD will fill a publishing void as the articles will specifically target dermatologic medical, surgical, and cosmetic issues that pertain to women patients and their children. We hope our readership will include not only dermatologists but also plastic surgeons, gynecologists and obstetricians, family physicians, internists, pediatricians, and medical students. We hope that you enjoy submitting articles to our journal as well are reading and learning from our contributions. Through rapid expert peer review and open access, we plan to have efficient turnaround and communication of your articles.
