Leadership Training Program, Bangladesh Short description In the Muslim-dominated Bengalese society most Christians are discriminated against, poor, and lack access to government services, like education. Consequently Christians are basically excluded from any leadership position. Our partner organization CSS firmly believes that it is very important for Christians to occupy influential positions in society so that they can realize a sustainable change. Also for church institutions it is very important to have capable and well-educated people. The program aims to train young Christians to assume future leadership positions within and outside the Bengalese Christian community. The program has four components:  Financial support (scholarship) for 400 poor Christian young people to enter higher education at college-level institutions;  Bible-based mentoring of the students by local pastors and through seminars, cell groups and alumni meetings so they can live Christ-centered lives and serve Gods’ Kingdom in Bangladesh;  Students are linked to a job mediation program to increase employment / leadership opportunities;  Woord en Daad offers capacity building, expertise and monitoring and evaluation support to partner CSS to ensure that an effective program is implemented. Objectives 1. 2. 3. 4.

400 poor Christian students receive college education; Students also receive biblical and spiritual training; All graduated students receive job mediation; Capacity of CSS is build up to further improve the program’s quality and sustainability.

Impact 1. Students become Christ-centered Christians serving the Bengalese society in paid and voluntary positions; 2. They impact families, churches and communities; 3. They support their families financially; 4. They contribute time and money to others; 5. Finally, the lack of Christian leaders in Bangladesh is reduced. Amount needed To support 400 students we need $ 146,000 on a yearly basis. $95,000 is already funded by Dutch funders. We are looking for a co-funder for the remaining $51,000.
