MCK SERVICES PROJECT ENGINEER OPPORTUNITY MCK Services is looking for a young motivated individual to fill a project engineer position. The Project Engineer acts as an onsite engineer to review daily operations at various job site locations. Reviews work to verify it is being performed per the plans and specifications. This includes monitoring daily construction to ensure it is progressing as scheduled. This position reports directly to the Project Manager, General Superintendent, Field Forman and other designated supervisors. Project Engineer will have involvement in the office operations; assisting in estimating, project set-up, scheduling and coordination of work. MCK is a well-established company, with over 17 years of experience as general contractor in the bay area. We specialize in heavy civil construction with primary focus in asphalt grinding, paving and cold-inplace recycling. MCK Company structure is set up with a unique small company atmosphere, allowing for fast-track experience and growth for young ambitious professionals. Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspect ongoing construction sites daily
Inspect, quantify and lay out scope for upcoming projects.
Coordinate and schedule work with contractors, subs, and public agencies.
Demonstrates understanding of standard concepts, practices and procedures within construction field.
Researches and resolves drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference, and errors.
Coordinates quality control testing and inspection by various agencies and/or third parties.
Verifies all work is being performed per applicable codes, drawings and specifications.
Demonstrates schedule understanding in coordination with construction logistics and construction sequencing.
Performs quantity takeoffs.
Oversees subcontractor work. Understands subcontractor job specifications and scope of work. Inspects work and makes recommendations for acceptance to the Project manager or other supervisor.
Understands Change Order process and ability to identifying PCO/change orders.
Prepares subcontract change orders for the approval of the Project manager or other supervisor.
Attends meetings with other contractors, clients, or agencies to coordinate design and construction efforts. Ability to transcribe detailed meeting minutes clearly, precisely and accurately.
Responsible for obtaining, reviewing, and submitting all project submittals
Responsible for supervising and managing several important project documents, including: daily report submittals, RFI's, contracts, permits, progress photos, and traffic control plans
Prepares “as built” drawings based on field design changes.
Understands company’s quality control plan and takes weekly photos to document any quality control issues. Researches and proposes solutions to quality control issues.
Clear understanding of company’s safety policy. Verify field work is being performed in line with policies.

Computer Skills: Special skills: Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office; particularly in Excel, Word and Outlook, etc. Ability to learn new computer programs. Understanding of scheduling programs such as Primavera. Education and Experience: Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field is required.
Education:
Candidates with basic understanding of construction of participation in internship is preferred.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. On occasion it may be necessary to lift and carry or manipulate items of up to 50 lbs., walk on uneven or unpaved ground. This position requires exposure to potential dangerous construction conditions, including working on heavily traffic streets or highways. Your position requires you to enter the field; therefore it is mandatory that you wear approved personal protective equipment, and are attentive to your surroundings at all times. This position may be required to work schedules which may include shift work, such as; day shift, night shift, holiday and/or weekend shifts. This position may also require occasional travel as necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, use hands, operate a computer, and have specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus working with computer and business equipment.
