SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: Saturday after morning mass and 5.30-5.45pm on Saturday evening and at call at the presbytery. EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT: Monday 10.00am – 11.00am and Thursday 10.00am – 11.00am. MORNING PRAYER: 15 minutes before mass each weekday and the Saturday morning Mass. PARISH COLLECTION : GIFT AID: £341.50. LOOSE PLATE: £297.65. TOTAL = £639.15. 2ND COLLECTION – This weekend will be for the sick and retired clergy of the Diocese. The Diocese currently has 11 priests and 2 housekeepers in retirement and the cost implication to the Diocese for this year will be £73,000. Last year the total collected from the parishes raised £11,000 towards these costs. This will be the first of 2 collections this year to support this fund and if you are a tax payer, you can gift aid your contribution, which will increase your donation at no extra cost to yourself. If you want to gift aid, please take and fill in one of the pink envelopes from the top of the hymn book case. I will read a pastoral letter from Bishop Tom in support of the collection on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. CRIB COLLECTION – For refugees and Mother Teresa’s sisters in Swansea, which was collected in front of the crib during the Christmas season raised a total of £402.21. Thank you for your generous support. DVD ON MARY – Will be shown on Monday 15th January in the church hall at 7pm (tea and coffee served from 6.30pm). This will be the last dvd in this current series. MASSES NEXT WEEK – Please note there will be Mass as normal on Monday 15th at 9.30am, but no Mass on Tuesday and Word/Communion services on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, led by Sr. Anne and Sr. Marcella. SVP – Thanks to anonymous donations from parishioners, the SVP was able to give a total of £800 to local families in need over the Christmas period. Thank you to everyone for their support. Also, via donations to the SVP, they were able to send £355 to the Sudan Baby Feeding Centre and thank you to everyone who contributed. BUFFET RECEPTION – For the Papal Nuncio Archbishop Edward Adams at the Marriott hotel, Swansea on Tuesday 13th February from 7pm to 9pm. The two tickets have now gone, but I will enquire about returns from other parishes if anyone else is interested in going? MERCY ASSOCIATES – Will meet on Wednesday 24th January at 2pm in the parish hall. CATHOLIC BIBLE SCHOOL – Will have a day on Mark’s gospel on Saturday 27th January in St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Barry. It will start at 10am and finish at 3pm. Tea and coffee provided, please bring a packed lunch. St. Mary’s School – Pupils and staff returned to school this week ready for the term ahead after a busy and exciting Christmas break. Mass was celebrated on Thursday by Fr. James on the theme of Light, where the children read and sang beautifully - a wonderful start to the term. St. John Lloyd School – no news this week.
