CHAIRMAN'S REPORT I welcome all AFL Barwon affiliates to our 3rd Annual General Meeting. It is important that we recognise and applaud the efforts of those who have made a significant contribution to the development of AFL Barwon and to the structure of football and netball in the region. In the AFL Barwon region we have many outstanding people who ensure that our clubs and affiliates are well governed, well-resourced and produce a positive environment in which we can grow our games of football and netball. Our volunteers are paramount in building successful clubs. Our professional operations people in our clubs and leagues provide expert support. The end result of these inputs is a great product. I thank you all. At our first AGM we reported on the initiatives undertaken in 2013: -
Club Health Checks Development of a Business model to support the Regional Administration Centre Development of a Situation Analysis Development of the AFL Barwon Strategic Plan
At our 2nd AGM we added the following programs and policies to the agenda: -
AFL Vic Player Payments review Highton office upgrade Appointment of a Regional Director of Umpiring G21 Regional Strategy Club development Competition structure review
Now at our 3rd AGM in 2015 I am able to report the following: The Player payments review has been completed and forms the basis for the Club sustainability program which takes in the Player Payments cap and the Player Points system. These programs have been refined and developed over the past 12 months and are ready for implementation in 2016. It is encouraging that our affiliates have been very proactive in this matter and have taken on board the resources and assistance on offer from AFL Barwon. We look forward to a seamless transition into season 2016. The Highton office upgrade has been completed and we are now able to house all regional staff in a functional office environment. Jock Hillgrove was appointed to the position of Regional Director of Umpiring (RDU) and has already made an impact on umpiring in the region. The G21 Regional Strategy is a most important document and has received widespread acclaim across both the Local Government and AFL Vic football sectors. It incorporates all of the elements that will facilitate the growth of football and netball in our region. This document will be the driver of club and facility excellence across the region. The Competition review that was initiated as P15 in 2014 has been further developed following stakeholder consultation during 2015. The AFL Barwon Commission has taken on board feedback from all affiliates and is ready to continue the process in 2016 to strive for the best competition structures that will provide for game growth and on-going club viability. It is the role of the Commission to provide sound governance and leadership. I urge all of our affiliates to engage with the programs on offer and to work with the Commission to make our football and netball clubs and competitions as good as they can be. I wish all affiliates a successful and enjoyable 2016 season. Craig Keating Chairman
GENERAL MANAGER REPORT Season 2015 was one that threw up many challenges for AFL Barwon but also continued to grow our sports with increase in participation, increased development and greater strategic focus. After establishing the Regional Administration Centre (RAC) in 2014, 2015 allowed us to consolidate the RAC as well as allow us to grow the development side of our business, having a 3rd Development officer allowed the resources to stretch further to support clubs at a greater level as well as grow our many development programs. 2015 saw a mountain of work dedicated to the introduction of both a player points system and a salary cap for 2016, the clubs should be commended on their support of this process and outcome. The region restructure is something that we continue to work on with all stakeholders and will endeavour to make sure all clubs are supported and are sustainable into the future. A Huge thanks again to our Major naming rights Partners, Blood Toyota & The Dow Chemical Company, we thank you, your support is invaluable to the leagues you support, it is a pleasure dealing with long term partners and the partnership is well received throughout the region. To Buckley’s Entertainment Centre, GMHBA The Geelong Advertiser, Corio Bay Health Group, Bendigo Bank, Kempe, CUB, Home Hardware and our new radio and Colts Partner K-Rock, all very much a part of our organisation and our continued growth could not be possible without your support. To the other partners who in their own right make significant contributions, we also thank you. Our work with the clubs creating safe, fun, family environments could only happen with the support we get from our partners. Thanks again to Jock McMahon and Ray Digby for their tireless efforts in 2015 with the Geelong FC Car Park and during the finals which raises much needed funds for AFL Barwon, a mighty job, we can’t thank you enough. Thank you again to the Shires and Councils in the region. This year we launched our G21 regional strategy and had the support and input from all shires and councils. This will help guide us in facility, club and sport growth in the coming years. This project also won the Australian Regional Planning Award from Parks & Leisure Australia. To my Staff, I thank you for your continued efforts, Michael Limb Football Operations Manager, Nikki Cooke Netball Manager, Sarah Scott Netball Co-ordinator, Sean Atkinson Junior Football Co-Ordinator and Jock Hillgrove who was appointed as the Regional Director of Umpiring, he had some challenges but we are committed to this role and growing the umpiring in our region. Our part time staff and volunteers, Jeanette Watt (Record), our many finals helpers and ground managers and everyone that helps out including our university placements, work experience and SEDA placements. Thanks again to Deb Thewlis, she is the first contact of our business and does an outstanding job. Thank you Deb for your personal efforts. To Tim, Luke and Katie, well done on your year working together on a range of projects and delivering high quality outcomes for football in our region. Thank you to the Players that represented the leagues at interleague in 2015, and especially to all the coaches that put in time and effort to put the teams out to represent our leagues, GFL retaining the No.1 football title on the road was a mighty effort. Thank you also must go to Tribunal Secretary Rob Drew and our combined Tribunal Panel, for your weekly commitment. Chairs Dennis Gilmore and Phil Swindells did a great job. Once again I would like to thank all Club Executives, Members, Players and Volunteers, you are the heart and soul of our competitions, it is your game and we hope to grow and build it in conjunction with your input and support. Finally thank you to the AFL Barwon Commission, your support in 2015 was appreciated . See you at the Football and Netball in 2016.
Lee Hartman Regional General Manager
OPERATIONS MANAGER REPORT Whilst our Operations Group continues to expand through the AFL Victoria Community Club Sustainability Program, and the roles become more diverse, the provision of effective leadership and governance across our many competitions in Football and Netball throughout the Geelong, Bellarine, Surfcoast and Colac districts continues to be our primary focus. Colts The Under 18 ½ Colts structure continued to develop this year, with 36 teams representing a total of 30 clubs registered for the 2015 season, including a team from Newcomb for the first time in many years, as well as teams from Queenscliff, GWSP and Werribee Centrals who were unable to field a team in 2014. We again conducted 4 divisions with 12,8,10 & 6 teams competing respectively in each division. This was the most evenly contested year in most grades including 3 draws in Division 1 games, 1 draw in Division 2 and 2 draws in Division 3 games. Players from 16 different clubs experienced finals football. Interleague We unfortunately had to travel for each of our interleague campaigns this year, with mixed results again occurring. Despite some atrocious kicking, the GFL defeated Goulburn Valley league 12.30 (102) to 9.13 (67) to win the Championship title for the third consecutive year. The Bob Cahir Memorial Medal for best player on the ground was awarded to Newtown & Chilwell speedster Dane McFarlane. The Bellarine Football League’s Interleague campaign ended on a disappointing note when it was defeated by 17 points by the Wimmera league at Horsham. Geelong Amateur full forward Mitch Day won the Bull Bennett Medal for best BFL player. Due to the excessive travel involved, there was no under 18 representative team this year. I would like to thank our head football coaches; Jeremy Dyer and Mark Hildebrandt, and their coaching staff for the time and effort that they provided during the preparation and on match day. I would also like to thank the support staff who volunteered their time and effort to ensure the players and leagues had all they needed to get the teams onto the field. Gary Holt and Brian (Bull) Bennett from the BFNL, and Charlie Johnson and his helpers from the GFNL all did a great job, as did their support staff and trainers. BFNL Torquay and Geelong Amateur were the standout teams throughout the season, with a vastly improved Barwon Heads also in the mix. The remaining 2 finals spots were hotly contested between 6 of the other 7 teams with a 2 point round 18 loss knocking Queenscliff out by 2 points. Ocean Grove and Anglesea secured the remaining positions, but the top 2 teams were far too strong and predictably played each other in the Grand Final. Geelong Amateur started strongly with a 7 goal to 2 first quarter and never looked back to record an emphatic victory, making it back to back premierships. Having won the Goal kicking with 106 goals and secured the Best on Ground “Bull Bennett” interleague Medal, Mitch Day won the 2015 Les Ash Medal in a close count from Torquay mid fielder Jarrod Mather. GFNL After an incredibly even season where St Joseph’s and Leopold appeared to be the form teams early, Leopold eventually fell away to drop out of the 5 after a heartbreaking 5 point Round 18 loss to ladder leaders St Joseph’s. Newtown & Chilwell stormed home in the 2nd half of the season to grab 4th spot whilst last year’s Premiers Colac (3rd), perennial finalists Bell Park (2nd) and a resurgent Grovedale (5th) filled the remaining positions. St Joseph’s and Newtown & Chilwell continued their strong form to make it through to the Grand Final where they both had the opportunity to break long standing Premiership droughts. Newtown & Chilwell challenged early and looked to be in control at half time, but St Joseph’s finished strongly to win by 18 points. The Mathieson medal was another thrilling count, with Stephen Paulke from Bell Park polling well throughout the 2nd half of the season to overtake the early leader Dale Carson from St Joseph’s to defeat him by 2 votes. This is Stephen’s 2 nd Mathieson Medal in 3 years. St Albans spearhead Jase Perkins wone the Goalkicking with 85 Goals. CDFNL The Colac & District FNL continue to conduct a very strong and vibrant competition. Unfortunately the season was marred and saddened by the sudden and tragic death of Otway Districts Captain Aaron Mahoney, who died in an innocuous onfield incident against Lorne. The whole football community were hit hard by this tragedy, but banded together to show enormous support for his family, friends and club who remain in our thoughts as they continue to deal with their loss. The season was again closely contested with Simpson again the benchmark. South Colac, Colac Imperials, Irrewarra-Beeac and Birregurra secured the remaining finals positions. Irrewarra-Beeac played their best football at the right time of the year to make their way through to the Grand Final, but despite a gallant effort from the Bombers, Simpson proved to be too strong and were crowned Premiers and Champions, completing back to back premierships. The Mahoney Medal was an amazing count with only3 votes separating the top 10 after 18 rounds. Former winner Khan Beckett from Irrewarra-Beeac polled 2 final round votes to join Sean O’Neill from Colac Imperials to share the medal, only one vote ahead of Michael Bolitho from Birregurra and last year’s winner Corey Baulch from Simpson. Interleague was played at Murrabit with a clash against Golden Rivers Football League led by new coach Adam Harris. A young and committed squad played a great game of tough contested football, which we led for most of the day, only to fall 10 points behind halfway through the last quarter. Two late goals saw us get over the line for a memorable win. Christian Kelly received the best player award. I would like to again thank our RGM Lee Hartman for his professional, supportive and visionary leadership. I would also like to thank and acknowledge Sean, Nikki and Sarah who have managed their respective areas professionally. Thanks also go to Jeanette Watt and Deb Thewlis for their hard work and attention to detail throughout the year. It is always a pleasure working with such a cohesive, hardworking and competent team. I would like to express again my appreciation to all the club volunteers for their hours of work committed to ensuring all the required tasks are performed in a timely and efficient manner. Michael Limb Operations Manager.
JUNIOR FOOTBALL REPORT It was another standout year for Geelong Junior Football, with 241 teams and competing in Geelong Junior Football, Newtown Little League & female football. A huge thank you to all who have contributed in season 2014, especially the Geelong Junior Football naming right sponsors - Buckley’s Entertainment Centre, Kempe, The Geelong Advertiser, Geelong Technical Centre, Red Onion, Coca Cola, Supatramp, GMHBA & Home Hardware. Without your generosity it would be impossible to run such a great competition. Unfortunately the Moorabool Valley Little League in 2015 due to the failure for clubs to field enough teams to make a viable competition. Both Inverleigh & Teesdale moved their teams into Geelong Junior Football having successful years. Our Youth Girls competition increased to 6 teams this year with addition of St Albans and Torquay to the league. Newtown & Chilwell continued to lead the way in Girls football winning its third consecutive Youth Girls premiership. This season we also introduced a Junior Girls competition for girls under 12 years old. This competition was made up of teams from Newtown & Chilwell, Drysdale and two from Bannockburn. I personally thank all the volunteers involved in helping to grow female football this season. The Interleague Carnival was again a success for Geelong Junior Football, with the addition of games against AFL Central Victoria. We were successful in defending our Bob Davis Shield title for the fifth consecutive year against a newly formed AFL Goldfields team, made up of the leagues in the Goldfields region. A big thank you to Bell Park FNC for hosting our carnival against AFL Goldfields. The following week we travelled to Bendigo to play 5 games very competitive games against AFL Central Victoria and successfully won all 5 games. The highest talent was on show for all games and we look forward to continuing the relationship into the future. A big thank you to Norm from AFL Central Victoria and Aaron from AFL Goldfields for their hard work and support in making these days work so smoothly. A massive thank you to all the Junior Interleague coaches and support staff for volunteering their time to work with the best kids in our region. The Geelong region is rich with talent and from this year’s results our senior leagues will look forward to the progression of these kids over the coming years. To all the clubs that hosted finals, Geelong Junior Football offers you a huge thanks. Congratulations to the Modewarre Football Netball Club for the outstanding running of junior grand final weekend. It was a massive weekend and your hospitality and commitment made it enjoyable for all competing clubs and spectators. To all club coaches, team managers, trainers and volunteers, I thank you for all your hard work. I’m sure it doesn’t go un-noticed at club level because I for one respect the amount of time you dedicate to your team and your club. To all of the players, boys and girls, that were part of Geelong Junior Football throughout the year, a huge thanks and I hope that you all come back and play footy in 2016. Lastly, to all of the Junior Coordinators, ALL the tireless work that is put in behind the scenes by you is the reason junior football in the region continues runs successfully. It was a pleasure to work with you all and hope you all continue in 2016. Sean Atkinson Football Coordinator
UMPIRING REPORT It gives me great pleasure to present my first AFL Barwon annual report. 2015 would be a year for change for umpiring with the role of Regional Director of Umpiring being established for the very first time as a full time position. Having commenced my role in February 2015 after spending the previous five years working for the AFL in Canberra (AFL Umpire Development Coordinator) I was able to hit the ground running with many programs already in place by the Geelong and Colac Umpire groups, this gave me the opportunity to have a look into each group and identify any areas that could be improved. Geelong and Colac Umpires had their coaching teams in place so I was able to give them support and direction while they continued their already established programs. I would like to thank all the coaches in Geelong and Colac for their commitment and efforts in delivering a coaching program that delivered improvement for all umpires resulting in outstanding umpire performances in all finals games across the Region, I am very proud of the people who umpire games each week, I am particularly proud of the club affiliated umpires who also officiate without you many games would not go ahead thank you from all your peers and thank you to every person involved in umpiring. Umpire numbers across Geelong and Colac had a positive net growth in 2015, with Geelong climbing from 342 to 375 (includes coaching staff), while Colac grew from 49 registered umpires to 65. This is a great outcome for the Region, but we have plenty more work to do, Umpiring needs more people involved as the growth of the game is still well ahead of the growth of umpires numbers. Geelong has a bold target of 700 umpires while Colac need 100+ so games can be serviced to where we would like them to be. One of the main messages is we want people to “give umpiring a go”, it’s one of the best seats in the house and away to stay in the game, ex-footballers are strongly encouraged to be part of a supporting and welcoming environment and bring your experience to umpiring. As per the table below it is evident that we have a very diverse group of people who participate as umpires in the AFL Barwon Region. Umpiring offers opportunities to people of all ages and gender, with strong coaching and support. Geelong umpire age demographic 2015 Season

The AFL Barwon Region was very well represented by umpires and umpire coaches from Geelong and Colac in the 2015 Worksafe Country Championships, V/Line Umpire Academy and TAC Cup, with over 50 umpires involved in these programs allowed greater development of individual umpires being exposed to higher opportunities as offered to players. Another great highlight for the year was establishing an Advocates Program in conjunction with Deakin University Law Department, over 40 students under the guidance of Martin Hardie (Deakin) and Stan Pokorny (who sadly passed away mid-season) were able to act as umpire advocates at local tribunal in Geelong, the program allowed the students to develop their advocacy skills in real life scenarios that had real outcomes, we believe this a major value add to the student experience and also a massive plus for umpire advocating and another way AFL can connect with people who otherwise would not have been involved. We will look to develop this program more for 2016 and possibly extend it to clubs which would again broaden the student experience and relieve some of the club volunteer pressure. The program is found nowhere else in any other sport and it is believed to be a world first, I thank AFL Barwon, Geelong Umpires (Tony Palmer – Director), Deakin University Law School, Martin Hardie and all the students for their dedication to get this pilot program successfully running. In closing I would like to thank the AFL Barwon Commission, AFL Barwon Staff and Geelong Umpires Board of Management for taking the bold step in establishing this role, AFL Vic Umpire Development Managers Russell O’Toole, Rod Threlfell, GDFL executive, AFL Barwon/GDFL clubs and all the umpires for making me feel so welcome and supported in my first year. As we look to 2016 and beyond I look forward to an exciting future for AFL Barwon, Geelong and Colac umpires as we establish strategies that will recruit and importantly retain community umpires, provide pathway for our Talent umpires and deliver strong coaching teams which will give us greater umpire performances to each game that is officiated in the AFL Barwon Region. If anybody is interested in umpiring in 2016 please contact myself, GFUL and Colac Umpires. Get in the game – umpireAFL Jock Hillgrove Direct of Umpiring
NETBALL MANAGER’S REPORT Season 2016 was another great success with continued growth in our competitions. I would like to thank our corporate partners, without their support we could not run the competitions each and every week. Blood, DOW, Bendigo Bank, GMHBA, Kempe, Espresso Alfresco & Corio Bay Health Group have been great supporters of AFL Barwon for many years now and we look forward to supporting you all and continuing your relationship with our leagues for many years to come. A big part of the growth of our sport is due to the wonderful media coverage now received at a local, national and international level. I would like to acknowledge and thank the Geelong Advertiser, especially Ryan Reynolds for his support in the coverage they provide each week during the season. I look forward to working closely with you in 2016 to develop this relationship and continue to increase our coverage for this growing sport. Congratulations to all our 2015 Premiers on a fantastic season and walking away with the end result we all strive for. Congratulations to Geelong Amateurs on their A Grade Premiership – a fantastic season with some fabulous games of netball, some stressful moments over the finals series that ended with a cracking Grand Final against Torquay. Thank-You to Portarlington FNC, Torquay FNC and Drysdale FNC for hosting our finals. It was a pleasure to work with all of you and I thank-you for your support of our competitions and finals series. Newtown & Chilwell FNC continued their unbeaten run and after what was the game of the year with a thrilling finish against South Barwon they took out the GFNL A Grade Premiership by 1 goal. We were again blessed with fabulous weather and this combined with no entry fees saw great crowds to all our games and enabled spectators to see both football & netball at the one venue over the finals series. I would like to thank GWSP for hosting the first week of the finals series and assisting with set-up and pack-up each day. Thank-you to South Barwon FNC for the loan of your electronic scoreboard for the finals series. Thank-you to all clubs and spectators for supporting our finals series and Grand Final Days both BFNL and GFNL. The crowds were fantastic this year and I know the players appreciate the support they receive – making their achievements extra special. 2015 was another big year for coaching development. AFL Barwon hosted over 10 coaching courses in 2015 with over 100 participants obtaining coaching accreditations in 2015. 2016 will see the introduction of online coaching accreditations so we hope to grow this even further in 2016. . AFL Barwon continued providing administrative services in 2015 to the Geelong Netball Club who play in the State VNL Competition, forging the way for AFL Regional Administration Centres to support and promote elite netball in their respective regions. AFL Goldfields have since set up a similar partnership with the newly formed VNL club Ballarat Sovereigns. It’s fantastic that we can provide these services to ensure Elite Netballers in our region are being provided an environment to train and play that will enable them to reach their full potential. In 2015 AFL Barwon grew this further as the Geelong Netball Club and Geelong Flyers join as one. Our administration services supported the Geelong Flyers in developing their new Junior Development Program, an elite junior program for the Barwon Region. Our involvement with the Barwon Junior Netball Championships now means that pathways and administration services for netball across our region have been streamlined ensuring the growth in our sport can be facilitated and fostered. Finally I would like to say thank-you to my colleagues at AFL Barwon. I love my job and that has a lot to do with the fantastic group of people I get to work with everyday. I look forward to 2016 and the challenges that the new season will bring. A huge thank-you to Sarah Scott our Friday Night Competition Co-ordinator and League Umpire Coordinator. Sarah has undertaken all her responsibilities with enthusiasm and professionalism. I am very grateful to the support she has provided me and I look forward to working with her and developing our competitions even further in 2016. Finally to the clubs; I am blessed that I get paid to work in an industry I am passionate about, you all give up your time, many of you away from your families to enable over 3500 women to take the court and play our wonderful game of netball each week. You ARE the unsung heroes of the sport working tirelessly behind the scenes. I am honoured to work with you all towards the same goal. I wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year and look forward to season 2016. Nikki Cooke Netball Manager
JUNIOR NETBALL REPORT Geelong Junior Netball In total for our Geelong Junior Netball competition this year we had 36 teams participate on a Tuesday night in the 11 & Under comp and on Friday night we had 66 teams participate from 13 & Under, 15 & under and 17 & Under. Included in our 66 teams was also our 6 All abilities teams one our biggest years of the competition. I would like to Jen McIvor and Evan Priest from Leisure networks for all their work with this competition. I would like to give a massive thank Carmel Fitzgerald for coming down and assisting me every Friday night, with the running of the competition. I would not be able to run the competition without her and takes her own time to come down and help. Thank you to our Friday night umpire supervisor Shirley Fagan and to the many Friday night mentors throughout the year. We had 25 new umpires begin in our Friday night competition this year and many have succeeded in becoming trainees and slowly moving up the ranks. With the help and support of our mentors we were also able to get many of our Friday night trainees back to their clubs umpiring on a Saturday. Umpiring As mentioned earlier in the Friday night competition we have 25 new umpires begin in our Friday night umpiring program. With this program we have over 15 mentors helping out throughout the season providing feedback and encouragement for our developing junior umpires. Along with our beginners we had over 40 trainee umpires umpiring every week on a Friday night gaining skills and confidence to work their way back to their clubs to umpire. We had 6 Friday night trainee receive there C badge throughout the year. Our Panel umpires this year was improved on from last year, still with a few speed humps along the way. Thank you to all clubs who supported AFL Barwon with last minute umpires of changes. This year we had more umpires available to us and we worked very hard in developing and gaining new younger members onto our panel. This program will continue in 2016 where we hope to add more Panel umpires to our list. This year I would like to congratulate one of our AFL Barwon Panel members for obtaining there B badge accreditation for umpiring. Elli Dunlop who only joined the Panel as a trainee panel member in 2014 and has worked tirelessly with Heather Carroll to earn her accreditation. I wouldn’t have been able to get more than 22 umpires across 22 A & B grade games each week throughout the year without the help and support of the umpire development panel, Heather Carroll, Kate Harding and Cheryl Van Dreumel. With the support of these ladies not only have we allocated panel every week, but have work with umpires to get there umpiring badges. Sarah Scott Netball Co-ordinator
TRIBUNAL REPORT The Regional Tribunal was again responsible for adjudicating charges laid in the Bellarine, Geelong and Geelong & District Football & Netball League as well as Geelong Junior Football. There were a total of 102 reports laid across these leagues in the 2015 season. These reports comprised 56 Senior Grade, 12 Reserve Grade, 24 Colts, 9 from Junior Grades, and 1 from Netball. This includes 12 reports heard at Tribunal as a result of investigations at the request of Clubs, Umpires or League for various incidents, and 13 that were referred by the Match Review Panel. Whilst there was a decrease in the number of reports laid, there was a significant increase in the number of investigations requested. 45 players accepted the set penalty option. A total of 169 matches will be or have been missed by players through suspensions received in 2015. There was also a further total of 16 weeks in potential penalties suspended until the end of 2016. Our Match Review Panel assessed 53 requests of which they found 16 reportable offences. Three of these players accepted set penalties and the other 13 charges were heard at Tribunal with 12 found guilty. We sadly lost Stan Pokorny, who passed away suddenly during the season having been a long term tribunal advocate for the umpires and most recently an inaugural member of our MRP. I would like to thank our chairmen Phil Swindells, Geoff Stribley, Dennis Gilmore, Ron Lovell and Ron Drew for their assistance in facilitating the hearings, and our other tribunal members for always making themselves available and embracing their responsibilities. CLUB SUMMARY The football club experienced a very successful season in many ways. While the Colts achieved at the highest level being grand finalists, the Seniors instilled a great deal of confidence by reaching the finals series. A very strong junior organisation, a focussed and knowledgeable coaching staff, excellent parental and community support and a host of willing, generous sponsors made season 2015 extremely enjoyable with more than a hint of enthusiasm for 2016. Anglesea Netball Club had a successful season 2015 both on and off court. We made finals in A and B Grades, Runners up premiers in 15 Sect 1 and won Premierships in 17 Sect 2 and 19’s. Anglesea featured prominently in the league voting with Anna Von Moger and Emily Walters taking out Best and Fairest in the League. With some hard work and help from Volunteers we were able to complete a renovation of our club rooms and partially complete shelters on our main court.

CLUB SUMMARY Approximately 500 people pulled on the brown and gold colours to represent Drysdale in football or netball in season 2015. This is a record number for a club that is experiencing a substantial increase in participation in a growing community. The Hawks are delighted to have more than 80 sponsors on board and are engaging the broader community and attracting new players through values like inclusion, fun, participation and connection. The club had several teams participate in finals and enjoyed premiership success in U16’s. Drysdale continues to invest strongly in its junior programs. This extends to the opportunity given to a young senior list, in both football and netball, to play and hone their skills at senior levels – An investment the Hawks are confident will reap personal and club rewards in the years to come. The club had many players play at a representative level this year including TAC Cup, inter-league, U15 Falcons, numerous Auskick Grid Games and Ben Searle was the Regions only Representative in the Victorian side who won the U15 SSA National School Championships held in Geelong. Drysdale Junior graduate and senior premiership player Tom Ruggles had a great year winning the 2015 Geelong VFL Best & Fairest. Drysdale junior graduate Emily Mannix had a great year debuting for the Melbourne Vixens and being appointed Vice Captain of the Netball Centre of Excellence Team. The club has been instrumental in securing $7m in funding for stage 1 of a new sports precinct to be developed near the entrance to the town. This development will bring a number of sports together in multi-purpose site designed to support the growth in participation across football, netball and other sports over the coming years.

CLUB SUMMARY A hugely successful season saw our Senior football and A Grade netball teams defend last season's premierships to take out back to back flags. There were many successes both on field and off, with many exciting plans already in place for 2016. The renovations of our down stairs change rooms is well underway and the City of Greater Geelong have approved and allocated funds to the building of shelters over our netball benches. Rowan McSparron and Nathan Rau have been at Ammos since being junior footballers to the club, and took to their respective coaching roles with the passion, commitment and professionalism that the committee knew they would bring. Josh Logan and John Chapman once again did a wonderful job of coaching our Colts side, and this season we were able to field a second team with the help of Belmont Lions. Our junior football section continues to be one of the best in the region, and this season Andy Richardson offered a footy camp. An academy is looking to be developed for next season and we are excited to welcome James Walsh as junior coaching co-ordinator. A strong season for the netball sections saw all 4 senior side playing in the grand final with A, C and D all winning premierships. A heart breaking loss after the siren in over time for the B Grade girls will no doubt bring all girls back next season for another crack at the title. Heidi Shaw has worked hard to develop this playing group and their fitness, skills and awareness of the game continues to improve under her guidance.

CLUB SUMMARY Season 2016 has been very fruitful for MFNC. Our u14 and Youth Girls football teams made Grand Finals as well as our C & D Grade netball making finals. Sarah Gunning once again showed her class by winning the BFNL A Grade B&F. Well done Sarah. The highlight of our year came when our Colts side won the Div 2 Premiership. A brilliant effort by all involved including, players, Coaches and support staff. The future is bright for the Warriors. A massive thankyou to all supporters, sponsors and most importantly to the hard working people, especially our club executive, that volunteer countless hours to keep the wheels turning. Bring on 2016.

CLUB SUMMARY Season 2015 has seen the club take giant steps forward! Under the guidance of President Damian Mahoney, strong Senior and Junior Committees can be well satisfied with their commitment and decision making. Senior and Reserve Grade teams were strong in numbers with thanks to coaches Chris Carlon and Dale Finn. The Colts team with Stephen Campbell and John Connelly in charge narrowly lost their Grand Final but most importantly they have a committed group of players who will be the future of Newcomb Power. The Junior Teams all progressed rapidly through out the season and in particular the Under 14 team who played off in their Grand Final. At all times the volunteers at our proud club are tireless in their involvement and a huge thank you is passed on to them and we look forward to another year of growth in 2016. Junior development was the focus for the Netball in 2015 with teams competing in all junior division one competitions. Our Senior teams struggled in a tough competition. We are hoping for continued growth for the 2016 season. Congratulations to all of our committee, volunteers, coaches and supporters on your magnificent contributions, without all of you we would not be the club we are. “Go Power”

CLUB SUMMARY Our senior football team missed out on finals this year for the first time in quite a while although we were pleased with the development of many of our younger players which enabled us to be competitive in most games during the season. Tom Limb and Steve Owen have stepped down as senior coaches but will continue playing in 2016. We are grateful to Tom and Steve for their dedication and loyalty over a long period of time which has included three senior premierships. Our Reserves team did not taste much success on the scoreboard but have developed an excellent team culture under new coaches Pat Callahan and Nick Tait which will strengthen the club in coming years. The senior netballers also had a lean year on the court with none of the teams able to finish in the finals. The A Grade team, coached by Jamie Ryan, was able to record 6 wins for the season and we are encouraged by the development of our young players across all grades. Jamie has decided to step down as senior coach and we thank her for her valuable contribution to the club. Our under age football and netball teams continued to grow strongly and represented the Coutas proudly with three netball teams and two football teams making it through to finals. After a lapse of one year we were again able to field a team in the Colts competition which was great news. Off the field, our club enjoyed much success thanks to the dedication and support of our many volunteers and generous sponsors.

CLUB SUMMARY Bell Park football/netball season 2015 were relatively successful with teams from both codes reaching the finals. Our senior football team after a slowish start to the year managed to come home strong and finished second on the ladder but unfortunately we were unable to capitalise on this great finish and were unsuccessful in our finals campaign. Our seconds also did well and finished in the top five however also did not achieve the ultimate result. Under 18A's were unable to finish in the finals race which did not reflect their endeavour throughout the year with a few close finishes that did not go their way. Our under 18B's had a fantastic year finishing on top of the ladder and going on to win the premiership for 2015. Our netball division had two of the senior teams make the finals. B grade and under 19's. B grade had some success and made it through the preliminary final and the under 19's were outstanding battling against the odds with injuries to make it to the grand final. Both our junior football and netball divisions are to be congratulated on their achievements for the year and our junior programs are looking strong thanks to all those volunteers and parents for their continued support which make our program possible. This season we were delegated the canteen for the finals series. This being such a challenging role would not have been possibly achieved without the many many volunteers who gave many hours to help us with all the organisation and delivery of service. The Bell Park Sporting club cannot thank these volunteers enough. We as a club are looking forward to the challenges of next year in our endeavours to have the ultimate success! Go Dragons

CLUB SUMMARY The 2015 season has seen success across the whole of our club. Our senior football team excelled narrowly missing out on a Grand Final birth, our juniors teams continue to improve with the U16 Div 1 team taking out the premiership. Our netballers took plenty of honours this season with four teams playing on grand final day, with the B Grade team victorious. We had several juniors take out league Best & Fairest awards in both football and netball. Off-field we continue to grow the club and look forward to an exciting 2016 season.

CLUB SUMMARY Football Report The 2015 season saw the Seniors make it to the Elimination Final with 12 wins and losing to N & C. The Reserves made it right through to the Grand Final but unfortunately lost to St. Josephs. A targeted recruiting campaign and re-signing of the player group for 2016 should ensure the Club remains competitive. Netball Report 2015 saw A Grade make the semi final, the first finals appearance for A Grade for over 8 years. We also had the U 19’s, U 13 Div 1 & 2 play in finals. The Head Coach Terry Corry has resigned. We are excited about a ‘new look‘ junior program, headed by Melissa Bragg, Sanonu Robertson and Anastacia Hamill. We have another great band of hard working volunteers on the new committee so looking forward to another busy and successful season in 2016.

CLUB SUMMARY An incredibly busy off-season saw the appointment of new Senior and Development Squad coaches, Andy Viola and Kaine Murphy and the recruitment of many new Roosters players. A Colts team was also re-established, under the guidance of club legend Ben Rowe. Our season began well with some inspiring wins at home under our new lights. As the year wore on injury and other factors impacted on our on field success. Regardless, we ended the season 100% up on wins over the previous season. Our football team is heading in a very positive direction. This year a Youth Girls team was established and made it to the Preliminary final. These girls were among the now over 300 Roosters junior footballers. Our A-Grade netball team had a very consistent season which saw them make the first week of finals, only to go down by three goals in a thriller vs. Grovedale. Our junior netball program continues to perform well with a number of teams playing finals and a Premiership being won by our U/17 B team. Our committee is dedicated and focused on success for our entire ‘one club’. Go Roosters!

CLUB SUMMARY 2015 season saw the loss of several experienced players prior to the commencement of the season which was very disappointing and which left a very young and inexperienced playing group. Whilst the club did not record any wins for the year, we believe that we have seen genuine improvement in our playing group and the understanding of the game plan and challenges of playing senior football in the country’s strongest competition is far greater now than ever before for all of our players. Our coach Adrian McBean demonstrated in his first year the strength of his development background and coaching experience and with the exodus of senior experience has worked tirelessly with our young group to bring forward the development and growth of both our senior players and emerging juniors and we believe we will see the rewards of this with Adrian in 2016.

CLUB SUMMARY The Leopold Football Netball Club extends a special thanks to our contingent of volunteers and to our players, coaching staff, officials, game day helpers and sponsors during 2015. Congratulations to our interleague representatives particularly Jeremy Larcombe who proudly went on to represent Vic Country. Going into the final round of senior football, there were 3 teams all on equal points and vying for 2 places in the top 5. Unluckily we faced the top placed team and after a gallant effort by the boys we fell short by 5 points, our opposition went on to win the premiership Our A Grade netballers had a tightly contested campaign and played off in the preliminary finals, they were unfortunate not to progress to the final week. Congratulations to our interleague representative in both the senior and junior ranks. Thanks to everyone for their involvement, input and support during the season, we look forward 2016.

CLUB SUMMARY The 2015 season has been an exciting one for our Club, although we have experienced a mixed result across the sporting sections of our Club . Congratulations must go to our victorious A Grade and C Grade netball teams – back to back to back premierships for A Grade and our first ever premiership for C Grade and our Youth Girls Football as well as our Division 3 ,17 and Under and Division 5 ,13 and Under netball teams for winning the premiership this year – well done to everyone involved. Our Senior football team was Runners –Up this year and we know that they look forward to improving on that result next year. Our Club continues to grow year on year both on and off the field and court and as always, we could not conduct the operations of the Club without the loyal support of our many volunteers who give up countless hours to make our Club successful. A big thank you also to our wonderful sponsors for again believing in and supporting the product that we offer. We look forward to season 2016 with excitement as we work towards the continual improvement of our organisation.

CLUB SUMMARY 2015 has been a team building phase for the football section. After losing a lot of players through retirements and transfers after the 2014 season the opportunity arose for young players from the reserves and colts to establish themselves as senior players. Over the season eight players from the 2014 colts teams played senior football. The netball section again enjoyed a very successful season and, for the 13th year in a row, won the GFNL Club Championship. Twenty one teams played off in their respective finals series and five premierships were won. Major works are planned over the summer season with the installation of new light towers on the top oval and the provision of terracing around the bottom oval. During the year we noted the passing of four life members - Gary Plumridge, Joe Hassan, John Nankervis and Geoff Walker. The club extends it's sympathy to their families.

CLUB SUMMARY With the 2015 GFL season behind us we have a chance to reflect on our achievements . Under the guidance of Debutant coach Nick daffy we had 10 wins , double the tally from 2014 and with a little luck in a couple of games we could have a couple more and may have even been a realistic chance to play finals footy . The reality of that is, we didn’t and so we get ourselves ready for a tilt in 2016 . During this year we saw 8 debutants to Senior footy with 4 of those U/18 boys , and all acquitted themselves well . Congratulations to Jase Perkins GFL leading Goal Kicker 87 goals and Billy Beardsell GFL Rookie of the Year . The Colts , under the watchful eye of coach Damien Hancock found themselves in Div 2 and for most of the year were in the top two on the ladder where they finished . The. Our boys played two finals but although right in it at ¾ time couldn’t keep with Lara at the end . Our under 16 boys played off in and won the Div 3 Premiership under coach Kirby Bourke and

CLUB SUMMARY The 2015 season was approached with much anticipation for both Football and Netball and knowing that we need to continue to improve across the board as a club to compete in the league . Improvement on and off the field was the objective and getting the right people in the rights seats.... Footy dept. in particular with our 2.00 o’clock and 12 O’clock teams both winning the Flags and both Colts sides made their respective decider’s this was achieved. Netball had a very good year with a large increase in playing numbers in the junior ranks and the senior sides playing a lot of juniors that will only help the club in the future . The coaching staff are locked in for 2016 and they are expecting rapid improvement in a large section of the playing group and with some well targeted recruiting are looking good for 2016 . Off Field was another solid year financially and socially due to the work of the many volunteers we have .. We need to improve our facilities to keep pace with the rest of the league and this will continue to be a major focus for the up coming season .

CLUB SUMMARY Football The football highlight was the Colts Division one team winning the premiership for the fourth year running. However the senior season 2015 was not successful and we finished lower down the table than we have for decades. However the continued blooding of our successful Colts players combined with a reduced injury list in 2016 gives us the confidence that 2015 was an aberration. The Reserves season was successful, despite losing the elimination final with the majority of the team again being 22 or younger. Netball The season was very successful in netball. Our senior netball had a reasonable year, highlighted by our D Grade side going through undefeated for the year. Our 19 and under side and C Grade side also made the finals which was a great effort. Our junior sides had an exceptional year with multiple flags being won.
