ATG Competition in Honor of Frank Marocco 

Frank Marocco was to have been our guest, and one of the adjudicators for this special competition to be held during its 2012 Festival. He was to perform as well as to receive a special award from the ATG in recognition of his contributions to the accordion throughout the world. It was decided the special competition in his honor would be held in spite of his untimely death on March 3, 2012 at the age of 81. Rules for this special competition are: 1. Entrant may use any type of instrument, i.e. piano or chromatic accordion, with or without left hand free-bass. No electronic instruments or amplification may be used in the competition, however. 2. Entrant must not be over the age of 32 as of July 25, 2012. 3. Entrant may be of any nationality. 4. Entrant must perform by memory two pieces, either arranged or composed, by Frank Marocco. It is suggested the two pieces be somewhat varied in style. 5. Entrant must furnish an original copy of the two pieces to the jury. No photo copies will be allowed without written permission of the publisher, if published. 6. Entry Fee: $45.00 US Prizes to be awarded are: 1. First Place Winner will receive $300. in addition to an opportunity to perform on one of the ATG Festival Concerts. 2. Second Place Winner will receive $100. in addition to an opportunity to perform on one of the ATG Festival Concerts. 3. No ties will be awarded. 4. The jury may decide not to award prizes if the standard of playing is not high enough in its opinion. Decisions of the jury are final. Designed for the outstanding players who love competition and may be planning to enter future Coupe Mondiale categories. Contestants may perform their own choice of music but must perform at least 3 pieces.

ATG US Championship 

General Information: Music must be performed by memory. The time limits are: minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 minutes. Entrant maybe penalized if playing under or over the limits. Rules for this special competition are: 1. One piece must show proficiency in use of the left hand free bass. 2. One piece must be originally composed for the accordion. 3. One piece must show technical virtuoso abilities. 4. Junior US Championship: The age limit is 18 as of July 25, 2012 5. Senior US Championship: The age limit is 32 as of July 25, 2012 6. Entrant may be of any nationality since it is not a qualifying category for the Coupe Mondiale representing the United States. 7. Entry Fee: $45.00 US Prizes to be awarded in both Junior and Senior Championship are: 1. The First Place winner will be awarded $150.00 plus a trophy and a certificate. 2. The Second Place winner will be awarded $100.00 plus a trophy and a certificate.
