Book Report Book: Animal Farm Author: George Orwell 'Animal Farm' is a book written by George Orwell and this is the first time I have read his books. So he is a new author to me. ‘Animal Farm' itself is a special story that many things including the characters represent life and people in the period before and after the October Revolution of Russia. Through the story, the author expressed how the government cheated their people and lied to them again and again. The book also expressed the author’s disagreement with the Russia communists. In the story, there was a farm with many kinds of animals run by a farmer and his family. The animals worked very hard each day but they got very little to eat. They wanted to have more and they disliked that way of living. They wanted to work for themselves to have an easier way of life. So they planned a revolution that was led by the pigs. In the story, pigs were the cleverest animals in the farm. Their revolution was a successful one and they forced the farmer to give up the farm. So they started their new life. But in the end, the pigs, which were the leaders of the farm, became greedy and selfish and ruled the farm just like the human beings before. The life of other animals was hard and even worse than before. I felt very upset when I read up to this part. The group of pigs, living comfortably in the farmer’s house and eating the product produced by them, destroyed their hopes and their beautiful dreams. And the pigs had never been working at all! This made me feel very angry. I hate the pigs in the story very much. They began to change the laws secretly to cheat the others. They did this because they wanted to have the ‘higher standard of living of human beings but had they ever thought of others? No, they hadn’t! They were selfish and they wanted the others to earn money to support their way of living. The poor animals could not have their ideal way of life anymore.
I think it is a meaningful book. It teaches me that human wants are unlimited and sometimes this kind of desire drives us into evil. It is true that the animals are poor. Above all, I think the poorest group is the pigs. They had lost themselves and forgotten what the aim of the revolution was. The ‘better’ way of life made them evil they were no longer pigs anymore. It was so sad. In this book, I have learnt that I should not lose myself whenever I meet anything for I don’t like to be like the pigs. If I did, I would hate myself a lot.
