Christmas Giving Opportunity: Make a Difference with Salvation Army Christmas Stockings Every Christmas there are children in Fairfax County who do not receive gifts because their families are struggling financially and cannot afford the expense. The Salvation Army’s Christmas Stocking Program ensures that these children have a wonderful holiday season with their families. This program serves boys and girls, ages birth 12 years old, in need throughout the Fairfax County community. The Salvation Army Fairfax Corps’ goal this year is to serve 2,000 children, and Providence members and friends can help them reach that goal. Beginning on Sunday, October 22nd through November 12th, empty Christmas stockings will be available for pick up at the display table across from the kitchen. Please take a stocking and a cardboard topper with the gender and age of the child for whom you would like to fill a stocking. Flyers with stocking stuffer ideas and a sample filled stocking for you to view are also available at the display table. Please completely fill the stockings with age-appropriate, NEW gifts, attach the topper, and return your filled stocking to the display table by November 19th. This is a great Christmas giving activity for the whole family. Thanks to your generosity, you will make a difference in the lives of the children who receive a stocking filled with gifts. For questions or more information, please contact Sarah Davis (703-503-9592) or Paula Rogers (703-495-9144).
