Valuation & Business Modeling Seminars 2017 Providing orientation, sharing knowledge, increasing performance
Editorial Value-based management is a key function of corporate leadership. In recent years, a significant emphasis has been put on determining the adequate strategy and value of transaction-related matters such as acquisitions or corporate carve-outs. The importance of transparent and robust financial models also increased with regards to the preparation and presentation of investor information, tax optimization or compliance with accounting principles (IFRS/US GAAP). Hence, broadening your knowledge on company valuations and financial modeling is crucial if you are working in finance or business development. EY is very pleased to present various seminars covering specific aspects of company valuations and financial modeling. Our seminars effectively prepare participants for company transactions and introduce them to tools and analytical methods for day-to-day tasks in finance and business development. Our seminars provide theoretical knowledge and best practice approaches with high practical relevance. In addition, our seminars offer participants the opportunity for one-on-one discussions with other course members and our speakers. For more information please refer to the following pages. We would be excited to welcome you in person at one or more of our seminars.

Financial Modeling in Excel Improve your skills with
Valuation
our Financial Modeling course We support you in building reliable business models.
We support you in appropriately assessing a company‘s value.
Financial modeling is increasingly used as an important basis in the corporate decision making process, including: • financial forecasting and budgeting; • liquidity planning; • evaluation of strategic options; • M&A; • impairment testing; • purchase price allocations; • variable compensation schemes.
This seminar discusses approaches for valuing companies and builds on these by examining practical examples. A significant portion of our seminar will be dedicated to the discounted cash flow method and the market multiples analysis.
However, financial models are often not built according to best practice. Further, in many cases the diligence applied in building models is low compared to the financial implications of potential errors in these models. Key questions to be covered in this seminar include: How can financial models be clearly structured in Excel and be arranged to be less error-prone? How do they support management decisions best under uncertainty? Specifically, you will be guided through best practice approaches in terms of setting up financial models and managing the build process. You will also be able to enhance your Excel skills based on practical examples. After our seminar you will be capable of meeting challenges in financial modeling while better understanding and assessing existing financial models in your organization. We will not only teach you “dry” Excel skills but also share with you practical experiences and “war stories”.
|| In this training, we will concentrate on fundamental aspects of building sound financial models. Theoretical parts will be completed by practical exercises and case studies. || 4

Additionally, this seminar will focus on advanced valuation topics, such as discounts and premiums, valuation of intangible assets and the challenges in valuing “start-ups”. The aim is to eliminate uncertainties in valuation and to identify any potential scope for the interpretation of valuation ranges using specific practical examples. The broad range of valuation-related content regularly leads to interesting discussions among “valuation experts”.
Precise tools for corporate valuation — in our Valuation seminar || In our seminar we cover different approaches and methods of valuing corporations and provide you with skills to plan and implement valuation projects effectively. ||
