Frank Marocco “Turns up the Flame” was the title my wife Anne named the CD after hearing a couple of the tracks. She thought it was more exciting than anything I had done before. This record was organized and produced by a Bass player and Jazz Accordeon loving Business man from Norway, Per Bredersen, who had already produced Cd’s of the Jazz legend “Art Van Damme” and the great Norwegian player, Kjell Harald Langhaug. The same Rhythm section played on all 3 recordings. Aage Tanggaard (Drums), Mads Vinding (Bass), and Jacob Fischer (Guitar), all well known World class Jazz Artists. The CDs were recorded at Aage Tanggaards Studio in Copenhagen. Besides the swinging drumming Aage contributed to the record, his Studio and recording skill produced the best Accordion sound I have ever gotten. Credit also due to my new wooden Victoria Accordion which responded and recorded beautifully. I chose 5 original Jazz lines, 5 Evergreens, a Django Reinhardt classic. ”Nuages”, a funk version of Henry Mancini’s “Mr. Lucky”, and an exciting Brazilian Samba “Estamos Ai”, which gives the CD a variety of different Grooves. Along with Aage’s tasty and swinging drums was the great Mads Vinding playing creative Bass lines and solos. the wonderful Guitar sound and solos of Jacob Fischer, plus his comping support behind me allowed me to feel free during my solos. This was a reunion for Mads and me as we had played concerts and a Danish TV show together back in the 80’s and then with this group last year at Mogens Bækgaard’s Music festival in Copenhagen. We felt spiritually together both musically and personally and have become good friends. My thanks to Per Bredersen for continuing to promote Jazz, to Mogens Bækgaard for his support, and to my Manager and good friend Elke Ahrenholz who took care of all the many details and loose ends and for helping Aage in the recording Booth.
