Target Audience Target Audience: Access to the qualification is open, except where there are restrictions placed on learners, based on their physical ability to adhere to legal occupational health, safety and environment standards that may prevent them from gaining access to this qualification Programme level: The level of the programme is at NQF Level 4. Minimum Qualifying Criteria: National Certificate: Plumbing L2 (or equivalent), Mathematical literacy at NQF Level 3 & Communication at NQF Level 3, 14580: Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, Level 3, 116534: Carry out basic first aid treatment in the workplace, Level 3, 242692: Install access equipment for construction work, Level 3.
Duration Qualification Duration: Twelve (12) months. Pre-Assessment: Pre-assessment of learners is undertaken to identify current qualifications and experience, and may result in reduced contact training sessions, for theoretical components. Non Contact Duration:
Learners will be required to invest the necessary additional hours per module on
additional reading and on job practical assignments, with the support of the supervisor/mentor and/or coach. Practical Experience: A workplace log will be completed and signed off by the mentor/workplace assessor while the learner is performing duties in the job environment. NOTE: A detailed project plan will be compiled jointly to meet the SAQA/ETQA requirements while appreciating the work environment and commitments for employed and/or unemployed learners participating on a learnership.

Artisan Registration The registration and de-registration of an artisan status is determined by the appropriate Department of Labour process. To be a qualified artisan in a specific specialisation area, the learner must have met the following requirements: Undertake work placement with the trade-related approved employer in accordance with trade requirements. Successfully complete the FETC in Plumbing in the related specialisation. Successfully complete the practical competencies in preparation for work as required for the specific artisan. Successfully pass the Trade Test.
