The seminar will be conducted as a two week block seminar jointly together with 10 master/phd students of an Ethiopian University. The block will be taught in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. The entrepreneurship seminar understands itself as a bridge between the various functional knowledge areas that have been created in the course of the studies at Zeppelin and the professional world that will become the home of the Zeppelin graduates. The seminar is meant not only for those who are contemplating an entrepreneurial venture either now or later – it is a review of key managerial disciplines towards taking responsibility for a whole business and understanding its role in global society: either as the founder of a company, a manager in an enterprise, or a politician in government. As such the seminar will review firstly the fundamentals of value creation, the principles of innovativeness and the dynamics of strategy as the basis for any entrepreneurial or managerial task. Secondly, the seminar will then make use of the venue of Ethiopia to relate all these issues in individual business leadership to the broader implications for society, ethics and value systems. Ethiopia has the second largest population in Africa, and has consistently over the past 12 years ranked among the 5 fastest growing economies in the world. Addis Ababa has some claim to be the capital of Africa. It is a vibrant city where the big contradictions of the modern world are on immediate display. Ethiopia has a leadership that pursues rigorously one goal: to lift itself out of poverty and become a middle income country by the year 2030. As part of the seminar we will meet with Ethiopian entrepreneurs and government ministers who can give us a real life insight into what it means to be a global entrepreneur in a global world. And together with the Ethiopian students we will have engaging debates on the demands and rights on business and
