INTRODUCTION This Learner’s Material on Vegetable Production contains various Learning Competencies (Training Regulations-based) leading to National Certification in Horticulture NC II. The Learning Competencies were designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of Grade 10-Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) students as regards the production of commonly grown vegetable crops to prepare them for higher education and the world of work. The contents of this material were taken from several documents, e.g. books, techno-guides, lectures, manuals, school resources, pamphlets, and internent downloads. This Learner’s Material has the following parts: Part I – TheIntroduction gives

the

Part

II

–TheLearning

Competencies/Objectives contain specific topics about a certain Learning Competency; Part III – The Diagnostic/Pre- Assessment provides evaluation of the prior learning and the acquired knowledge and skills of the students; Part IV – The Reading Resourcesand Instructional Activities include what the students must know, must process, must reflect and understand, and must transfer; Part V –The Summative Assessment evaluates how much the students have learned, and Part VI – The Summary/Synthesis/ Feedback gives generalization and enhancement on a specific lesson/module. A “Glossary” section at the end of every module of the Learner’s Material has been added as further reference. There is also a List of References to acknowledge the sources of the ideas lifted from them.
