Dear Parents The exams are now under way and the excitement of the end of the year is fast approaching. We urge you to be safe during these forthcoming holidays - relax and come back refreshed for all that 2017 holds for you and your family. Financial Matters We have reached the end of the financial collections as at the end of October 2016. All parents who are still in arrears and who may have missed an instalment during the course of the year are kindly requested to bring their account up to date immediately. Fees for 2017 Parents are encouraged to take advantage of the two early settlement discounts offered, either before the end of December 2016, or end January 2017. Text Books The text book lists for the 2017 academic year have been finalised and handed out. Please ensure that your child has all the necessary text books for the forthcoming year. Get your books from Ferndale Textbook Exchange for new and used books, where you can also exchange your books for the next year 011 781 3397 – Cnr Main and Oxford Road, Ferndale. Alternatively go to Bookbound opposite Randburg Hoër Skool or their Bramley branch – see the advert in the classifieds section. Very important : Please ensure that in addition to your text book purchase you pay your child’s resource fee at the office early next year, or before (this is the amount where there is no text book for a subject and is indicated by an asterix on the book list – as payment for notes, manuals etc which they receive throughout the year) and paste the receipt for resource payment into your child’s official school diary. HYDE PARK HIGH HAS BEEN VOTED BEST GOVERNMENT HIGH SCHOOL AT THE BEST OF JOBURG GALA EVENT Hyde Park High School was proud to announce to the staff and pupils that the school was voted Best Government High School in Gauteng! The school is celebrating 60 years of co-educational excellence next year and this award re-affirms the school’s longstanding standard of educational distinction. The Annual “Best of Awards” was launched in Johannesburg in 1996 and is one of the most popular, and successful competitions. The Caxton readers have spoken by voting for their Best Government High School, Hyde Park High School, which was announced at a glamorous awards ceremony which the Headmaster attended. The winners are announced in October of each year. There is no way of entering the “Best of Awards” ... it’s an open ballot with the winners determined by Caxton’s readers. Hyde Park High School is thrilled to be associated with being the “Best of the Best”. Parents are reminded that Hyde Park High is the only Government School that offers the IEB (Independent Examination Board) Matric, maintaining high standards of education, with highly qualified and experienced teachers. GLEE – BATTLE MANIA!
This year the Glee Club staged Battle Mania a vibrant production of song and dance, battling it out through the ages. The cast sacrificed a large portion of their September holiday to rehearse, staging a slick, entertaining show. Well done to the cast, sound and lighting crew, backstage and Miss Bentel for their time, talent and effort put into this production.
Hyde Park High has a new tuck shop management team! We welcome our new tuck shop management team to the school. We are confident that their refreshing menu will inspire and excite pupils, parents and staff alike. The new tuck shop team will open on Tuesday 01st November 2016 and will be offering a limited menu during November. The full Charlies Café tuck shop will be up and running on 1st day back to school in January 2017.
