All are welcome! Please join us on Friday Evenings in Lent! We will pray, share a simple meal and listen to compelling and compassionate speakers discussing what feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, caring for the vulnerable and promoting justice require from each of us today. “…he rose from supper and took off his outer garments. He took a towel and tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel around his waist.” John 13:4-6
When after the washing of the feet Jesus explained the gesture to the Apostles, he taught that we are to serve one another, and if I say that I love but I don’t serve the other, don’t help the other don’t enable him to go forward, don’t sacrifice myself for him, this isn’t love. This is Lent.

Saint Mary’s Food Pantry Ministry
FEBRUARY 11, 2018
WEEKLY SCHEDULE
We often receive inquiries about serving in the food pantry of Saint Mary’s and we are very grateful to those who are interested in volunteering and of course, to those volunteers who keep the food pantry functioning. In general, food pantry activities fall into two categories: Collection and Distribution. Food Collection involves preparing and helping to hand out brown bags after Masses on Brown Bag Sundays; sorting and stocking the shelves on the Sundays following brown bag distribution; keeping inventory of supplies and shopping for additional necessities when we run low between collection Sundays. Food Distribution includes packing up and delivering donations from our pantry to outside organizations; preparing bags of food for people who call in advance or drop in; maintaining emergency food supplies for weekend and off-hour requests. If you are interested in helping with any of these activities, please contact Carol Mayfield, 703-978-4141, x109 or
[email protected]. Future food collection and pantry restocking Sundays will be Feb. 18th, Mar. 18th, Apr. 15th and May 20th beginning at 1:20 pm, in Farrell Hall.
