Robert E. Petras, MD is a board-certified pathologist specializing in gastrointestinal pathology. Dr. Petras is currently the managing director of Gastrointestinal Pathology Services for AmeriPath, as well as the director of the AmeriPath Institute of Gastrointestinal Pathology and Digestive Disease in Cleveland, OH. He has co-authored over 200 scientific publications on a variety of subjects relevant to gastrointestinal disease including: management of early colorectal cancer, accurate diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease, and the diagnosis and management of dysplasia and early cancer in inflammatory bowel disease and Barrett's esophagus. Dr. Petras has also lectured extensively ongastrointestinal disease at various universities as well as state and regional gastroenterology, colorectal surgery and pathology society meetings.
