THE SALVATION ARMY CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

Each Christmas, The Salvation Army, with the help of hundreds of volunteers and donors, provide toys, food and clothing for our neighbors in need, and cares for those otherwise forgotten. In 2011, the Salvation Army’s Christmas Programs served 17,223 people, 7,600 of them were children. We distributed over 16,000 toys and 3,239 Christmas Food Boxes to families in need. Through the A Cleaner World Give-A-Kid-ACoat program, we distributed a total of 4,413 coats.

Christmas

2,872 nursing home residents and 1,260 people in correctional facilities received a Christmas remembrance from volunteers at The Salvation Army. Please consider helping out this Christmas. We can’t do it without you! Over 3,078 volunteer hours in Forsyth County alone.

I (we) would like to volunteer for the following:

You can stuff a stocking for a needy child! Pick up empty stockings, fill, and return them to participating locations. Your stocking will go to a boy or girl in Forsyth County through the Angel Tree Program.

Notes:

Walmart is hosting their first ever toy drive for The Salvation Army and we need volunteers to help! For one day only, at least 5 volunteers are needed at each Walmart location to hand out information to store customers, collect any toy donations and help pack the truck with all of the toys received for Christmas.

Angels may be adopted at one of these locations: Hanes Mall, Sam’s Clubs, Wal-Marts, or Krispy Kremes.
