History RECO Hoist takes over hoist division HTC Plant In January 2015, RECO Hoist Ltd announced the acquisition of the Hoist division of HTC Plant Ltd. RECO Hoist, a UK subsidiary of Dutch construction equipment rental company RECO, retained all 41 employees, contracts and agreements. HTC Plant’s general manager Marcus Percival will also transfer to RECO Hoist to head the team as Managing Director. Duncan Salt, Managing Director of PC Harrington which owns HTC, said: “The core activity at HTC is our tower crane operation, an area that we want to further develop and with the market right for investment we had to make a decision regarding our on-going participation in the hoist rental market. We took the difficult decision and considered a sale as the best option.” “RECO is an extremely reputable and well thought of hoist business, active in mainland Europe, which has wanted a UK operation for some time. This is a very good fit for them and a good deal for both parties. It gives RECO a ready-made hoist operation in the UK and enables HTC to concentrate more actively on its core crane hire business, which is experiencing strong demand.” RECO CEO, Edwin Verpoort added: “This is an exciting acquisition for RECO and will provide the business with an opportunity to demonstrate its market strength. We will carry on the activities of HTC Hoist, optimising them where possible with the introduction of the Dutch programme of vertical transportation which includes mast-climbers and scaffold hire and sales.” HTC Plant originally acquired the hoist division from Hewden Stewart at the end of 2007.

High-rise access solutions One of the many high-rise access solutions RECO Hoist has to offer is the Common Tower system. A Common Tower is a temporary structure that is tied to the main building and is used in conjunction with rack & pinion construction hoists to provide access into the building under construction. Why should you use a Common Tower? A construction team working on a high-rise tower will need to ensure that they have the most efficient access system available for getting personnel and materials to the work face whilst keeping the minimum opening, for access into the building. This concentration of hoisting in one area allows cladding to be installed around the open faces of the building, except the small access point to the building from the Common Tower, and then allows for the fit out of the lower floors as the main building is being constructed and grows in height. What can I tie to the Common Tower? A Common Tower can accommodate conventional twin car single mast hoists, large single car twin mast hoists or a temporary staircase structure on any of its faces. The Common Tower is of a modular design and is capable of adapting to different sizes and shapes to suit various site conditions and to accommodate twin hoists with up to two metres wide. How is the Common Tower installed? The Common Tower is designed for erection and dismantling either by manual handling of the components or by crane handling of large sub assemblies of one, two or three floor Common Tower modules. A Common Tower can be used on buildings with up to 70 stories and heights up to 300 metres. Main benefits The common tower system offers a number of advantages over using traditional scaffolding. As the hoists are tied to the tower, and not directly back to the building, the access tower landings are clear of hoist tie legs giving increased headroom. The installation and dismantle of the common tower and hoists is faster than with traditional scaffolding, as once the tower is installed and tied to the building, the hoists are attached to the common tower. The common tower can also be installed by constructing the landing levels on the ground, or even off site, and lifted in to position with a crane. The tower can be configured to accept from 1 to 6 cages, on any of the 3 exposed sides of the tower.

4. Mastclimbers We supply mastclimbers for hire throughout Europe. Mast Climbing Work Platforms (often called mastclimbers) are a modular system of deck sections and mast sections that are pinned or bolted together to create a platform of a predetermined length and height. Mastclimbers can be used for many projects, such as medium or high rise construction or refurbishment projects. The work platform travels up and down the mast(s) using an automated power unit. Unlike conventional scaffolding, the entire platform moves with the workers, so the operator can spend more time on productive tasks. Therefore mastclimbers provide fast, efficient and affordable temporary access solutions to a wide range of construction and maintenance work. We can offer a wide array of mastclimber options. They can come in single mast, double mast and modular versions, with a platform length starting from 2.7m, expandable into a mega deck of 32.6m and a load-bearing capacity ranging from 1500 - 3500kg. The benefits of the mastclimbers include: • Faster to construct than a normal scaffolding system • Large load capacity • Fast elevation speeds • Installation and dismantling time around 30% quicker than conventional scaffolding • Reducing labour and plant costs • Materials and equipment can be lifted to platform which reduces worker downtime • Ergonomically better by providing ideal working height • Far fewer attachment points • Secured against overloading • Less material on the façade, reducing blocked views • Less storage, so less space needed at the construction site

5. Passenger Lifts Our partner RECO Special Products has developed a number of types of temporary elevators that can be used in a range of situations. Placed on the outside of a building, RECO’s temporary passenger lifts provide the same service as permanent passenger lifts that are out of operation due to modernisation or renovation work, or as a result of damage that takes a long time to repair. Our elevators can also be used at events. RECO elevators are supplied with fully automatic doors and a standard push-button panel. The temporary elevators can also be used to transport wheelchairs, mobility scooters and stretchers. The advantages of a temporary passenger lift from RECO Special Products: • Safe and reliable because of WinMOS monitoring and remote control. • In addition, the temporary elevators shaft is completely closed, which means that the elevator can be used safely in all weather conditions (even above wind force 6). • User-friendly and comfortable because of level access. • No operating card control system, which makes the elevator very easy to operate.
