REVISED CIRCULAR Guidelines of Practice School Viva Exams (Semester II and Semester IV) Summer – 2016 (Regular Exam) To, All the Directors/Principals/Exam Centre In charge/ Examiners /Students, GTU Affiliated MBA Colleges,

GUIDELINES OF PRACTICE SCHOOL VIVA EXAMS (SEMESTER II & SEMESTER IV) SUMMER – 2016 (REGULAR EXAM) General Instructions:  All presentations by students and the questioning by the panel of examiners will take place in an open format. i. e. all the students and faculty members must be allowed a free entry to the VIVA Room, where the PRACTICE SCHOOL VIVA Exam is to be conducted. 

At the beginning of each presentation, the examiner/ Centre Head will announce that no student would enter or leave the VIVA Room when the group of students is making the presentation. At the end of one presentation and before the start of the next, the gates of the room may be opened and students and faculty members may be asked to enter or leave the room and then again the next presentation may start.



There can be inspection / visit by members of PRACTICE SCHOOL Committee / GTU officers appointed by GTU any time during scheduled timing of Viva Voce. They are authorized to intervene in the evaluation grading if it is felt to do so.

Examination panel and allocation of marks:  One panel shall consist of two members i.e. External Examiner appointed by GTU and Internal Examiner / Coordinator appointed by respective institute. External Examiner shall evaluate approx. 30 students in a day. The institutes which are having students more than 30 and less than 45 may nominate one internal examiner only.

Total marks of module V is 50 which is divided into two parts. External examiner will give marks out of 30 separately in all subjects on the day of Viva and Internal Examiner / Coordinator will combine marks (30 + 20) and at last 50 marks (CEC) will be entered in the online mark entry portal.

Role of Internal Examiner:  Each Internal examiner must bring hard copy (filled with Enrolment No., Name of students and Title of Project Report only) of –  Consolidated Evaluation sheet (50 Marks)  Evaluation sheet of 30 Marks for External Examiners  Mark-sheet of Internal Examiners - 20 marks (20 Marks will be given at institute level by Respective Subject Faculty Members and Internal Examiner/Coordinator will have to bring hard copy of mark-sheet (Out of 20 Marks) on the day of Centralized Viva.) This is to ensure about the accurate number/ group of students allocated with respective Project Titles. 

All Internal Examiner / Coordinator must carry a letter issued by Director/ Principal of college addressed to Centre Head indicating that s/he has been appointed as Internal Examiner / Coordinator for PRACTICE SCHOOL. In the appointment letter of Internal examiner, the Director/ principal has to mention that whether the faculty is endorsed or not and if the faculty is endorsed by GTU then Endorsement letter outward number with date must be mentioned in the letter.



Internal Examiner / Coordinator has to ensure that the hard copies of the reports submitted by the students is containing all the required declarations / Information suggested in module V of each subject.



There is no role of Internal Examiner / Coordinator in evaluation process on the day of Viva. However, the internal examiner may sit with the external examiner to facilitate the viva process.



At the end of examination of all students of an institute, Internal Examiner/ Coordinator has to prepare a consolidated (20+30) mark sheet (enrolment number wise) of all the students and upload marks on online marks portal under CEC component of all the subjects of Group A and Group B.

Role of External Examiner:  Consolidated Mark Sheet duly filled in must be signed by ‘External Examiner’ counter signed by Examination Centre Head and seal of college of Examination Centre. 

Detailed Evaluation Sheets External and Internal as well as Consolidated Mark Sheet have to be put in envelope and sealed by centre head in presence of External Examiner.

It may be noted that these envelopes must be separate for each college. For example at Zone 1, colleges 701, 714, 761 and 820 are proposed to be examined, in that case , there will be four different sealed envelopes – each one containing evaluation sheets of each college.



The External and Internal Examiner may take one copy of all evaluation sheets that have been signed. Examination centre must retain Original Copies of all Evaluation sheets of every college.



As all subjects of one semester are divided into two groups (A and B), students may get different marks in each subject as per their work and presentations, to be evaluated by the external examiner/s.

Evaluation Process:  This is part of 5th module (Immersion study) in all subjects of MBA Programme. Therefore it will be evaluated by the faculty members of respective subjects (Internal Examiner), as a part of CEC (Continues Evaluation Component), with the weightage of 20 marks out of 50 marks as I Component. Whereas the consolidated Presentations as a part of 5th module of all subjects learning outcomes by students shall be evaluated by managerial level Industry and eminent academic Expert (External Examiner) with the weightage of 30 marks out of 50 marks as I Component. 

With Reference to Circular Number GTU/Academic/MBA/2015/10573 dated 21/11/2015, each MBA student / group of student shall prepare two presentations on practical aspects (module 5) of managing business with reference to applications of concepts learnt in the following subjects under two groups of subjects:

Semester MBA Semester II

MBA Semester IV

1.Business Ethics and Governance (BE & CG)

They can take back their copies once the Viva is over.

Students have to prepare combined Power Point Presentation on 5th Module of all subjects of particular semester. Every student / group shall be allowed to make presentation for about 10-15 minutes.



Certificate from a company/industry is not required for current year.



Students need to carry ‘Theory Exam Hall Ticket’ to appear in Viva.

TA/ DA and Honorarium Norms  TA, DA and Honorarium to External Examiners (appointed by GTU) and Internal Examiners (nominated by respective institute) have to be paid as per GCSR and CP viva norms GTU norms whatever applied till last examination by the Centre Head of examination centre and claim the reimbursement from GTU or adjust against advance given by GTU for conducting Practical Examinations. In case of TA, Supporting documents such as Xerox copy of RC Book or receipt of Taxi or Tickets must be attached to TA bill Role of Centre In-charge  The examination Centre In-Charge (Principal/ Director) shall be responsible for conducting PRACTICE SCHOOL Viva Voce at examination centre and are eligible for honorarium as per GTU examination norms. 

Based on no. of blocks for Viva Voce, peons are eligible for honorarium as per GTU norms for GTU Examinations.



The examination centre needs to allocate one class room with LCD Projector and Computer / Laptop for each panel.



The Centre Head has to submit sealed covers of evaluation and TA, DA and Honorarium bills within 3 working days from end of last day of viva voce at the centre and obtain inward from GTU and to be maintained in records till announcement of results of assessment / reassessment.



Centre Head needs to take care that Viva Voce starts at 10:30 am sharp and ends up by 5:00 pm. External and Internal examiner coordinator are supposed to reach examination centre latest by 10.00 am and students must report at examination center by 10:00 am sharp on the day of Viva Voce.



The centre coordinator will be responsible to allocate the External Examiners to specific class of students as per the details sent by the CGBS team.
