SPECIFICATIONS OF WATER TENDER 1. 2.

CHASSIS: The fabrication of foam tender should be made Tata 1616/13 Truck chassis. GENERAL: The appliance should have a water tank capable of carrying 4000ltrs and 500ltrs Foam Tank(Optional) shall be fitted with a pump at the rear of the appliance driven through PTO.

MATERIAL SELECTION AND TREATMENT:  All parts which form water ways should be of corrosion resistance material or suitable treated with corrosion resistance compound. All metal pipeline should be dipped galvanized after completing fabrication of pipe line inclusive flanges/ joints. All metal parts exposed to atmosphere should either be corrosion resisting material or treated suitably to resist corrosion. Pipe used should at least be of medium duty and shall with stand two times of the maximum working pressure.

WATER TANK: A) The water tank of MS mounted on chassis should be capable of carrying 4000 ltrs. Of water of thickness 4.0 mm It should be of welded construction and fabricated out of mild steel sheet. The thickness of the sheet including baffle should not be less than 3.0 mm. The tank should be suitable baffled in both direction to prevent surge. The baffle should be of bolted panel type and bolting should be done with stainless bolts and nuts. The tank should be so designed and mounted as to bring center of gravity of the appliance as low as possible and mounting should permit full rated contents of the tank to flow into the pump. B) Suitable lifting eye should be provided on the shell of the tank to unable the tank to be lifted of the vehicle for repairs etc. C) The tank should be fitted with two man hole of 450 mm dia on the top of the tank. The cover of the man hole should be hinged type. The drain pipe should not be of less than 50mm dia through out and should be taken down to the point well below the chassis without reducing the effective ground clearance. When fully loaded, it should discharge away from the wheel. D) One over flow pipe not less than 100 mm dia. should be fitted to the tank and taken down to the point well below the chassis without reducing the effective ground clearance when fully loaded. The pipe should be so arranged that the water will over flow while refilling the tank and no water shall over flow when appliance is in motion. E) One filling pipe (hydrant connection) of not less than 63 mm should be fitted to the tank. It should be fitted with 63 mm male instantaneous coupling. This connection should be fitted with gate valve to prevent water leaking through the filling pipe. F) All plumbing should be reasonably accessible for maintenance purpose. Screwed bends, flange joints shall be avoided as far as possible. G) The tank should be sand blast before giving an epoxy treatment. The epoxy treatment should consist of two coats of primer with two coat of epoxy finish.

FOAM TANK(OPTIONAL): (a) A foam compound tank 500ltr capacity is made up of 4.0mm thick SS-304 sheets and baffle made of 3.0mm sheets should be mounted on the chassis. (b)

Man hole of 450 mm diameter on top of tank should be used for foam filling with a removable strainer fitted to it. The strainer should be of stainless steel and its total screening area shall be adequate to permit quick filling of foam compound into the tank. The filler cap should be clearly marked ‘Foam’. PUMP A light alloy/gunmetal High cum Low pressure A.I.F.S make pump shall be fitted at the rear of the appliance capable of delivering as under: 2250LPM @ 7 BAR (Normal pressure) 150LPM@40BAR (High pressure)

The pump should be provided with 2 delivery outlets of 63 mm quick release coupling and a suction inlet of 100 mm as per IS.

5.1 a.

PRIMER: An automatic primer capable of lifting water at least from 7 m depth with in 30 second should be provided.

b.

The primer should come into operation automatically as and when required and get disengaged automatically when the priming is over.

5.2

FOAM PROPORTIONATING SYSTEM(OPTIONAL) : A manual Foam Proportionating system shall be provided.

CONTROL PANEL: The following control should be provided at the rear pump operating panel. a) Pressure Gauge: 0 to 40 kgf/cm2 b) Compound Gauge calibrated as i) Pressure 0 to 8.5 kfg/cm2 (in black) ii) Vacuum 0 to 75cm Hg (in red) c) Engine throttle control d) Pump hour meter in cabin or dash board. e) Audio cum visual warning arrangements at driver cabin and pump panel at rear for engine temperature exceeding 90º

WATER MONITOR:  A water monitor should be mounted on the roof of the appliance in such a manner that it can be manually operated by a member of the crew. The monitor should be capable of traversing through 360 degree in the horizontal plane and 45 in vertical plane.  The monitor should be capable of projecting the foam discharge to an effective distance of not less than 30 m in still air when operated at 7 to 8.5 kg/sq cm pressure in a straight jet pattern.

7.1 PRIMATOR 3000(MANUAL MONITOR –POK FRANCE MAKE) :  Flow :1500 -2250 l/mn @ 7 bars.  horizontal range: full 360 deg.  vertical range: + 90 deg to -70 deg.  five support legs non-folding. 8.

POWER TAKE OFF (VAS ENGG MAKE):  This one shall be a brand new drive line full torque heavy duty power take off with adequate ratio avail the continous rating as the engine to utilize optimum pump performance efficiency without testing the engine .The PTO shall be be with cooling outfits.  The provision/livers shall be located for engaging and disengaging the PTO inside the drivers cabine.

HOSE REEL: Two Hose Reel (one for high pressure and another one for low pressure) . The length of the hose should be 30 m with manual operated mechanism to roll the hose should be provided.

BODY WORK/STOWAGE/CABIN:  Enclosed accommodation with double compartment for six person with driver and Officer in the front and a crew at the rear should be provided. The driver seat & officer Seat should be of adjustable type. The design of the cab shall be such that it affords max. Possible vision. Two hinged door shall be provided on each side of the appliance for easy access to driver and crew. All doors should open outward and hung forward. The locking arrangement shall be with double catch striking plate. Non slip step and grab rails coated with plastic should be provided to assist the driver and crew to get in and out. All the seats should be fitted with 100mm thick foam cushion. All window should have safety glasses and all glasses be fitted with winding type regulator. Two number sun visors shall be provided one on each side. The construction of cab shall be such that the roof shall support the weight of two men without damage.

There shall be two lockers, one on either side of the chassis at the rear of appliance for stowage make of MCD France/Firco Italy/Hindalco India. The lockers shall be composite construction. The doors of the lookers shall have efficient means for holding them closed by efficient flush fitting spring loaded locks and hinged at sides. Inner walls of the locker shall be of 16 gauge MS and 2.5 mm thick aluminum checker plate for flooring. All lockers shall be weather proof & self draining type. All lockers shall be provided with internal automatic lighting arrangement with the master switch in the cab. The pump and other fitments shall be covered by hinged door with suitable locking device at the rear.  All lockers should have sufficient light facility.  The suction hose tunnel shall be provided at suitable location for carrying four number of 2.5m long, 100 mm suction hose.

WORKMANSHIP AND FINISH  All parts of the appliance shall be of good workmanship and shall have streamline finish. All mechanical and other part should be such that parts normally required to be replaced can be supplied and fit correctly.

The appliance should be painted fire red (two coat) conforming to shad 536 of IS. 5-1978 and paint should conform to IS 2932. Necessary anti-corrosion and priming coat should be applied before painting in order to achieve gloss finish. The under chassis shall be painted black. The inside of locker and driver/crew compartment should be painted cream. 13.

ACCESSORIES: FITTED ITEMS:The following accessories shall be provided in addition to these normally fitted in the chassis. (A) FIRE BELL:- One fire bell of 250mm dia shall be mounted externally and shall be capable of being operated from within the driving compartment. The bell shall be of the hand operated type. (B) SIREN:- One best quality double headed siren (big size) with auto device (12 Volt) of 1.5 K.M. Range. (C) FOG LAMPS:- 2 (Two) Nos. Halogen will be provided and these shall below mounted in front of the appliance. (D) REVERSING LIGHT:- 1(One) No. it shall be suitably situated to assist reversing. (E) LIGHT BAR LED :- 1 (ONE) Nos. (Big Size). It shall be red colour and shall be capable of throwing beams SOLPHIN make with personal address system. (F) WIND SCREEN WIPERS:- Electrically operated of approval design 2 Nos. (G) SEARCH LIGHT:- 1 (One) No. it shall be adjustable to give a flood or beam light and shall be mounted in convenient position on the appliance. It shall be capable of being readily removed and mounted on a tripped. 100meters of TRS cable should be supplied and mounted in spool on top of driving cab and shall be of suitable capacity so as to cause not more than 12 percent voltage drop at the other end. (H) TRAFFICATORS:- TATA/Leyland Trafficators (latest model) to be provided. (I) ADJUSTABLE LIGHT:- 1(One) No. adjustable light with hand operated switch to be fitted in the back of the vehicle for lighting purpose in operation to pump. (J) REAR LIGHT:- Rear Lights should be protected with wire not frame. (K) LADDER GALLOW:- One Ladder gallow shall be provided to hold the extended aluminum ladder 10.5mt high. MARKING:Each appliance shall be clearly and permanently marked with the following preferably on a model plate attached in the driving compartment an also near on the pump operating control panels:a) Manufacture’s name or trade mark. b) Year of Manufacture. c) Capacity of Pump in LPM, Water Tank in Liter. d) Engine No. & Chassis No. e) Pump No. if any. f) A board arrow pointing up-wards.

After Sales Service a) The contractor or his agent shall demonstrate performance of the equipment after receipt at the consignee’s works. b) Training shall be imparted by the supplier in operation & maintenance including repair of the equipment at the time of commissioning. c) The tenderer shall provide adequate after-sales service during warranty as well as post warranty period. 3.
