STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE Bullseye Pistol Overview/Description of Discipline Shooting paper bullseye targets from offhand position at 25 yards for score. 10 shots per target/stage. Slow fire target is 10 shots in 10 minutes. Timed fire target is broken down into two 20 second strings of five shots. Rapid fire target is broken down into 10 second strings of five shots. 900 point match (90 shots) course of fire is as follows: Target 1 – Slow fire Target 2 – Slow fire Target 3 – Slow fire Target 4 – Timed fire Target 5 – Rapid fire Target 6 – Timed fire Target 7 – Timed fire Target 8 – Rapid fire Target 9 – Rapid fire Target 3, 4, and 5 make up the National Match Course
Equipment Required Weapon One 22LR semi-auto pistol or revolver with iron or optical sights. Ammunition 22LR Target NRA B-16 for slow fire and NRA B-8 for timed and rapid fire. Ear & Eye Protection Must be worn at all times when the range is “hot”. Clothing/Costuming No special requirements National Affiliate Organization NRA Rules observed in addition to FWGC NRA Pistol Rule Book Special local rules Reduced targets are used for slow fire targets. All FWGC Range Rules will be observed.

The Match Director will appoint a Range Officer for each match. The Match Director may act as the Range Officer if he/she so chooses.
Overall safety rules Spectators must wear eye and ear protection and must remain clear of the firing line while the range is “hot”. Children must be supervised at all times. Firearm handling Carry to and from the shooting position to and from the staging area or vehicle with muzzles up, held above the head height, actions open, semiauto bolts locked back. No gun can be handled on the line in any fashion when the range is “Cold”. All targets are reset only on a “Cold” range (see Shooting Commands below). While on the firing line muzzles will be within a 170º cone related to the placement of targets and the berm. If a loaded gun needs to be carried to the SAFE AREA it will be done at the direction of the Range Officer. Firearm storage All guns must be stored, unloaded on the SAFE AREA bench, actions open, with muzzles pointed into the roped SAFE AREA when not being used on the firing line. Loading areas Guns are loaded at the firing line only upon command of the Range Officer. Magazines can be loaded at any time on the firing line or SAFE AREA bench. Unloading areas Guns are unloaded on the firing line when the range is “Hot”. If a loaded gun needs to be carried to the SAFE AREA it will be done at the direction of the Range Officer. “Safe Area” There is a dedicated area where any gun malfunction or repair may be dealt with. Firearms handling rules will be observed when transporting to and from the safe area. Match Information Prerequisite training required All new shooters will have basic safety rules explained to them before the match begins. Match Director Is in charge and has the final word regarding issues of safety and competition. Schedule Weekday evenings during Daylight Savings Time. As directed by the Match Director. If a competitor has an alibi he/she will complete the alibi string after all other competitors have completed the target. “Magazines out, slides back, cylinders open “The line is cold” “Go forward and score targets” Starting position The gun is held pointed at the ground approximately 10 feet in front of the shooter with trigger finger outside of the trigger guard. Firing position Standing at the firing line gun held in one hand only, the other hand being used in no way to support the gun. Competitors will take their position at the firing line in such a manner as not to interfere with competitors on either side. No portion of the shooter’s body may rest upon or touch the ground except the feet. Scoring procedures Each target is scored using the “best edge” rule for a maximum of 100 points and total bullseyes. Competitors will not score their own targets. Competitors will score the target to the right of their own target. NRA Pistol Rule Book will be used to settle disputes in areas not covered by this SOP. All protests are handled by the Match Director whose decision is final. Alibi scoring will be at the discretion of the Match Director. Awards To be determined by the Match Director Safety Violations Major Accidental discharge will result in match disqualification. A FWGC Incident Report will be prepared by the Match Director and submitted to the Chief Range Officer. Match disqualification will be noted on the shooter’s score sheet. 3

Minor Violations of the firearms handling rules above may result in a in a target disqualification. Target disqualification will be noted on the shooter’s score sheet. Spectators are not allowed on firing line when the range is “hot”. All FWGC Range Rules must be observed. Incident reports Will be filed on the club provided form for all injuries and all match disqualifications. Fees and Sign-in $3.00 per shooter. Sign-in time to be established by the Match Director. Emergency procedures There is a telephone in the target stand shed which can be used to call 911. There is also a first aid kit in the shed. In the event of an emergency requiring police, fire equipment, or an ambulance the Match Director or assistant will designate someone to tend the gate and direct emergency vehicles. A FWGC Incident Report will be completed and filed for all injuries. Practice
Practice will be accomplished using FWGC Range Rules.
