Oxfordshire Cricket Strategic Plan 2015-2019

Context

Current participation in team sports is under pressure, thought to be linked to evolving lifestyles and interest levels of both individuals and families. Oxfordshire Cricket has a responsibility to ensure cricket in Oxfordshire bucks that trend. ‘Oxfordshire cricket has a responsibility’ We are one of 39 County Boards with a responsibility to work closely with our National Partners the England and Wales Cricket Board and Chance to Shine, while also remaining agile and adaptable to local need. ‘Adaptable and be managed pro-actively’ It is imperative that we do not stand still as an organisation, our strategy and work programmes must be adaptable and be managed pro-actively. The very nature of sport is to adapt to remain successful and fit for purpose. We must look for national and local trends and continually question the status quo along with hav ing an eye firmly on the horizon. We wish to provide transparent direction and leadership from Oxfordshire Cricket to develop the game in the County.

Purpose of this strategy

‘Transparent direction and leadership’ Oxfordshire Cricket has a significant number of valued volunteers who work tirelessly to run and develop cricket in Oxfordshire. Oxfordshire Cricket strive to enable this team whilst attempting to unite their efforts to a common cause and direction. We aim to integrate our newly established professional workforce and unite the two groups’ efforts on the road to achieving our mission. ‘Unite their efforts to a common cause and direction’ We hope that in creating this strategy we will enable a common cause for the Oxfordshire Cricket Network. Listening to players is key and we must not be afraid to innovate to ensure cricket’s future. Bringing all parties in Oxfordshire Cricket together and making clear the role, intensions and expectations of Oxfordshire Cricket as an organisation can only aid in making cricket a sport of choice in Oxfordshire. 3
