kata kunci : english language - translation Abstraksi : The translation of The Boyhood of Ronggowarsito is a very interesting subject to discuss. The strong interest in this short story stimulates the writer to explore about the translation of the Boyhood of Ronggowarsito. The Boyhood of Ronggowarsito told us about one of our most famous writers of old Javanese literature. Somewhere in surakarta, in 1802, a baby boy was born his name was Bagus Burham. His grandfather, Raden Tumenggung Sastronagoro, was chief bupati in the Kingdom of Surakarta. He was also a verse writer known as Yosodipuro II. He had once predicted that Bagus Burham would someday be a great verse writer. His grandfather send Bagus Burham to Kanjeng Kyahi Imam Besari in the Ponorogo Pesantren. Bagus Burham had studied for four years in the pesantren and finished his study. Bagus Burham became Secretary of the Kadipaten of Surakarta, and the King gave him the name of Pujangganom meaning Young Literary man Bagus Burham later married the Princes daughter, Raden Ajeng Gombak. It was at this time that he got his fathers name: Ronggowarsito, the name by which we all know him until now. A translation of The Boyhood Of Ronggowarsito is needed to fulfill one of requirements for the Diploma III of English literature.
