Non chiedetele di staccarsi dal suolo, è contro la sua natura. Geko è la capostipite delle full suspended da 29” di Scapin, una mtb dalla geometria compatta che saprà conquistare gli specialisti sia del cross country, sia delle granfondo. Il carro da soli 435mm e un top tube dalle dimensioni contenute contribuiscono a rendere più corto il passo della bici, migliorandone la fluidità di guida nei tratti più tecnici. Per aumentare la stabilità di Geko, Scapin ha ottimizzato il baricentro grazie al BB offset 50mm, associato ad un angolo di 74° del tubo sella. Anche nelle pendenze estreme si può pedalare seduti evitando l’inconveniente del sollevamento della ruota anteriore e le perdite di aderenza di quella posteriore. In compenso, la forcella da 51mm si presenta meno verticalizzata (70°) per affrontare più agevolmente le irregolarità del terreno in discesa. Il sistema di sospensione agisce secondo una curva di compressione progressiva, che rende il mezzo molto rigido in assenza di impatti importanti. Il design del telaio rivela una chiara ispirazione con Oraklo, che traspare soprattutto nell’angolazione del top tube e del down tube. Il cablaggio è completamente integrato. Do not expect it to lose contact with the ground - it's against its nature. Geko is the parent model of Scapin's 29" full-suspended family. It is a compact geometry MTB that will meet all the expectations of both cross country and Gran-Fondo/Cyclosportive specialists. A short, 435mm stay and a compact-sized top tube help to make the bike wheelbase shorter, improving smooth riding in the most technically challenging routes. To increase Geko's stability, Scapin has optimised its centre of gravity thanks to 50mm BB offset combined with a 74° seat tube angle. Pedalling in a sitting position is made easier even on extremely steep slopes - keeping the front wheel firmly on the ground and avoiding loss of grip. By contrast, the 51mm fork is less verticalised (70°) to better deal with ground bumpiness downhill. The suspension system works according to a progressive compression curve, which enhances vehicle rigidity in the absence of significant impact stress. The frame design is clearly inspired by Oraklo; this is especially obvious in the top tube and down tube tilt angles. The wiring is fully integrated

REAR FLEX SYSTEM

Flessibile, compatto, incollato al terreno. Il sistema di sospensione posteriore di Geko offre due grandi vantaggi: ridurre al minimo le perdite di contatto della ruota posteriore con il terreno e, più in generale, evitare la dissipazione dell’energia muscolare durante la pedalata. L’ammortizzatore poggia su 5 pivot points, mentre il carro posteriore è composto da un’unica parte in carbonio. L’interazione fra la normale deformazione del carbonio nel retrotreno e l’azione verticale dell’ammortizzatore produce una curva di compressione progressiva che rende particolarmente rigida la bicicletta quando le sollecitazioni trasmesse dal suolo sono lievi. L’oscillazione dovuta al movimento ritmico della pedalata e l’effetto “squat” sul retrotreno nelle accelerazioni vengono perfettamente compensati anche a sospensione sbloccata. La mobilità dell’ammortizzatore varia in misura proporzionale all’intensità degli impatti. Potremmo parlare di un sistema di sospensione “intelligente”, messo a punto da Scapin per ridurre al minimo l’azione di disturbo delle asperità del terreno sull’efficacia del gesto atletico.

REAR FLEX SYSTEM

Flexible, compact, glued to the ground. Geko's rear suspension system offers two major advantages: minimising the rear wheel loss of grip and, more generally, avoiding muscular energy dissipation during action on the pedals. The suspension rests on 5 pivot points, while the rear stay consists of a single carbon fibre element. The interaction between standard rear end carbon fibre deformation and the suspension's vertical action results in a progressive compression curve which enhances the bicycle's rigidity - particularly when only minor stress is applied from the ground. The swinging motion due to the rhythmic pedalling movement and the "squat" effect on the rear end when accelerating are effectively offset even when the suspension is released. The suspension mobility varies proportionally to the impact intensity. This could be defined an "intelligent" suspension system, developed by Scapin to minimise the impact of surface roughness on the athletic performance.

La particolare forma del telaio è progettata per sfruttare al massimo l’elasticità del materiale e, anche grazie a una disposizione di fibre studiata ad hoc, a renderlo più flessibile, quindi più confortevole, e al contempo più resistente. I test effettuati su Oraklo 148 hanno evidenziato che la sua struttura reagisce meglio alle sollecitazioni, con un aumento del 13% sull’anteriore e del 14% sul posteriore rispetto la versione precedente. Geometria leggermente rivista ed aggiornata, presenta il movimento centrale ribassato di 5mm che rende l’insieme molto più maneggevole e stabile.

Research on innovative, unique, particular and high-end solutions: seen from the side, the frame reveals the powerful tension of its structure. The particular form of the frame was designed in order to make the most out of the elasticity of the material and, thanks to a specifically studied fibre alignment, to make it more flexible and thus comfortable and at the same time resistant. The tests done on the Oraklo 148 show that its structure reacts better to stress compared to the previous version, with a 13% increase in the front end and a 14% increase in the rear end. The slightly revised and updated geometry has lowered the central movement by 5 mm which makes the whole structure more manageable and stable.

Nata per la massima stabilità e precisione di guida, pensata per la competizione e ideale nelle Marathon, Oraklo 148 prende il nome dal boost posteriore ed è caratterizzata da un telaio monoscocca in fibra di carbonio Toray T1000, T800 M40J. La particolare forma del telaio è progettata per sfruttare al massimo l’elasticità del materiale e, anche grazie a una disposizione di fibre studiata ad hoc, a renderlo più flessibile, quindi più confortevole, e al contempo più resistente. I test effettuati su Oraklo hanno evidenziato che la sua struttura reagisce meglio alle sollecitazioni, con un aumento del 13% sull’anteriore e del 14% sul posteriore (rispetto alle versioni precedenti). L’angolo tubo sella è stato mantenuto costante nelle taglie centrali, ma reso più armonico nelle taglie estreme (S e XL) con l’obiettivo di adattarsi meglio alla morfologia dei biker di riferimento, a tutto vantaggio di una posizione più efficiente e performante.

Geometries studied for racing. Born for maximum stability and precision steering, designed for competition and ideal in Marathons, Oraklo 148 takes its name from the rear boost standard and is monocoque frame characterised by a Toray T1000, T800, M40J carbon fibre. The particular shape of the frame is designed to exploit to the full the elasticity of the material and, also thanks to a tailor made mix of fibres, to make it more flexible, hence more comfortable, and at the same time more resistant. The tests carried out on Oraklo showed that its structure reacts better to stresses, with an increase of 13% at the front and 14% at the rear (compared to previous versions). The seat tube angle has been kept constant in the central sizes, but made more harmonic in extreme sizes (S and XL) with the aim to adapt better to the morphology of the reference bikers, all to the advantage of a more efficient and performing position.

Kyoto presenta telaio idroformato a doppio spessore con forme esclusive e geometrie per 29”. Nato dalla grande esperienza Scapin nel mondo delle gare XC, Kyoto presenta carro posteriore molto compatto, per garantire scatto e reattività e un avantreno con escursione della forcella da 100mm, per aggredire in sicurezza qualsiasi terreno. E’ disponibile in cinque allestimenti, con tre opzioni forcella e due diversi set ruote. Tra i montaggi, anche una versione con corona singola e pacco pignoni da 12/46.

Scapin entry level proposal, in the front-suspended range, provides fun, quality and safety, with an eye on budget. Kyoto specifies aluminum double butted hydroformed frame with custom shapes and geometries adapted to the 29" standard. Born of Scapin experience in the world of XC races, Kyoto features very compact rear stays, to ensure fast acceleration and perfect handling, and a front suspension fork with 100 ml travel to safely face any terrain and track. It is available in five groupset packages, three fork options and two wheelset options. Groupsets include a single speed version (12/46 sprocket).

Nella parte frontale lo snodo sterzo, progettato per reagire alle forti sollecitazioni dell’avantreno appoggia con eleganza sulla forcella studiata ad hoc, nella forma e nei materiali, con il fodero sinistro di sezione maggiorata per resistere alle sollecitazioni trasmesse dai freni a disco. Forme aerodinamiche: tubo sterzo a goccia, reggisella alare con chiusura a scomparsa, così come il tubo sella, che riporta anche uno scarico posteriore per minimizzare le turbolenze nel passaggio ruota, garantisco un ottima resa del mezzo contro il vento. Caratterizzato da un avantreno molto stabile e sicuro, mentre il carro posteriore presenta posteriori verticali con sezione sottile e piatta, per favorire la flessione sul piano longitudinale e smorzare le torsioni. La sua configurazione particolare, con il distintivo snodo al tubo sella, garantisce reattività, scatto e grande stabilità nella guida esaltata dal perno passante anteriore e posteriore di diametro 12 mm. In the front of the frame the head tube joint, which was designed to react to strong vibrations from the front end, rests elegantly on top of the fork which has a specifically designed shape and materials, with the left stay having a larger cross-section to resist stress transmitted by the disc brakes. Aerodynamic shapes (the head tube is droplet shaped, the aero seat post has concealed fastening, as does the seat tube which also has a rear cut-out to minimise turbulence in the wheel arch) guarantee excellent performance under windy conditions. While characterized by a very stable and safe front end, the rear vertical stays are slim and flat in order to favour resistance to flexion on the longitudinal axe and to reduce torsions. Its particular configuration with the distinctive seat tube joint guarantees reactivity, sprint power and great stability which is reinforced by its front and rear thru axles that have a diameter of 12 mm.

Le sezioni asimmetriche e lo studio dei materiali nei tue lati del telaio sono nati per ottimizzare la frenata e compensare le forze generate dal freno a disco. Il perno passante da 12mm sia all'anteriore che al posteriore creano un insieme compatto. Questo garantisce un'eccezionale risposta del telaio che si mantiene stabile anche in casi di frenate brusche ed improvvise. Le pinze freno Flat Mount offrono un migliore allineamento, estetica più elegante e un migliore dissipamento del calore grazie ai disco con Ice Technology.

The asymmetrical sections and the carefully studied materials applied to the two sides of the frame have the aim to optimize braking and to compensate for the forces generated by the disc brakes. The thru axle of 12 mm diameter in the front and the rear, create a compact set. This guarantees an exceptional response of the frame which remains stable even in case of abrupt and sudden braking. The disc brake Flat Mount system offers improved alignment, more elegant looks, and improved heat dissipation thanks to the Ice Technology discs.

Personalizzazione del fasciato, rigidità del monoscocca. Si chiama TT Matrix TM ed è un procedimento innovativo ed esclusivo, messo a punto dai tecnici di Scapin Engineering. Questa lavorazione, perfetto connubio tra la tecnica del fasciato e quella del monoscocca, integra nello stesso stampo: tubo sella e scatola movimento per irrigidire il telaio in fase di pedalata e zona sterzo con tubo diagonale, per migliorare la reattività dell’avantreno. Così facendo, vengono notevolmente irrobustiti ed irrigiditi i punti critici del telaio, quindi l’insieme reagisce alle sollecitazioni torsionali come un pezzo monoscocca e non come una giunzione di tessuti. Grazie al TT MatrixTM, Scapin può offrire la “customizzazione” di un fasciato senza perdere la reattività del monoscocca.

TT Matrix™

Tailoring of the Tube-to-Tube, strength of the monocoque. Its name is TT Matrix TM and it is an innovative and exclusive process created by the Scapin Engineering technicians. This process, a perfect marriage between the “Tube to Tube” technique and the monocoque technique, integrates in the same mould the seat tube and the bottom bracket to strengthen the frame when pedalling as well as the steering area with diagonal tube to improve the responsiveness of the front end. By doing so, we significantly strengthen and strengthen the frame critical spots, so that the whole body reacts to torsional stresses like a monocoque piece and not like a junction of fabrics. Thanks to TT MatrixTM, Scapin can offer the “customization” of a “Tube to tube” frame without losing the monocoque responsiveness.
