Interface Definition Interface Definition Table Format Each Interface Definition table format has the information describing the characteristics of the fields in the table. The field definitions are as follows: ID Field Description Data Type
Max Field Size Start End M/O/C
Comments
Sequential number to identify column Description of the contents of column Format of data A – Alphabetic characters only A/N – Alphabetic and numeric characters N – Numeric characters only DATE – Numeric digits in specified date format Length of field Beginning position of field in record Ending position of field in record M – Mandatory field to be populated O – Optional field: provide value if available. C – Conditional; field has dependence on another field Additional information pertinent to field
Optional Fields Optional fields may simply be null File Naming Convention The naming convention of the import file will consist of 15 numerals followed by “fcit”. Each file that is transmitted needs to have a unique filename. If a file with the same filename has already been processed, an error will be generated, and the file will need to be renamed in order for it to process. • The first two numerals will be the county number 01 thru 67. • The next three numerals will be the agency number 001 thru 999. • The next eight numerals will be the date in the format YYYYMMDD. • The next two numerals will be a sequence number to uniquely identify each file generated for the above date. This will always start with 01 for the first file for this date and be incremented by one if additional files are created on the same day. • A typical file name would look like this: “130012011121301fcit”. Record Format Each field in the record should be separated by a pipe(|) with a terminating pipe(|) at the end of the record. (ex. Field1|Field2|Field3|…Field138|)
