Shaping the Future of Electronics with the Developed Technologies
In response to customer needs in the high-performance and high-density wiring for electronic devices, wires and cables with great performance and additional compactness are developed by Junkosha. This can only be achieved by Junkosha, the first manufacturer of developing fluoropolymer insulating wires in Japan, as the evidence of Junkosha ユ s future innovation. The high-speed signal transmission cable transmitting signals at nearly the speed of light in the vacuum, the high-frequency cable with accurate signal transmission in microwave-band, and the noise-resistant cable with exact signal transmission are the examples of Junkosha ユ s high-performance and weight saving products which have developed by integrating the accumulated know-how and the technologies.
Conductor Material
1. Type Conductor Round conductors and rectangular conductors are available. ● Annealed electrolytic copper wire Round and flex conductor that are certificated as JIS C 3102. Annealed copper is the most widely used conductor. ● Oxygen-free copper wire O xygen -f ree copper w ith low-level oxygen content in copper is suitable for wiring electronic equipments requiring heat resistance, flex and twist characteristics, and hydrogen embrittlement resistance. Wire sizes are the same as annealed c o p p er. T h e m a i n c o nt e nt of r e c t a n g u la r conductors is the oxygen-free copper. ● High-tensile strength copper alloy wire High-tensile strength copper alloy is copper alloy wires for electrical use with a small amount of cadmium, chrome, and other materials, improving its elasticity, flexibility, and heat resistance without degrading the conductivity (maintaining 80% of conventional value). High-tensile strength copper alloy is suitable for wrapping wiring and ultra fine wiring for electronic and other equipments. ● Copper-clad steel wire St e el- cent ered copp er - clad conduct or for electrical use provides excellent elasticity. Although conductivity-40% conductor is used for Junkosha ユ s standard, it is suitable for coaxial cables for high-frequency use because the conductivity will be equivalent to the annealed copper in the high-frequency band by the skin effect. ● Resistance electrolytic wire A resistant material with small temperaturecoefficient of resistance and large specific resistance is required for inner conductors of resistance wires and heat generating wires. Copper-nickel alloy (JIS S 2521, advances, cuprum, cupronickel, etc. for ρ =5 to 49μ Ω・ cm), nickel-chrome alloy and iron-chrome heating wires (JIS S 2520, ρ =108 to 123μΩ・cm) are available. ● Thermocouple Compensating Wire Thermocouple compensating wire constructing materials are copper / constantan, chromel / alumel, chromel / constantan, iron / constantan, and so on, selected by the applications. The standard for compensating wires is JIS C1610 for Japan and ASA C 961 for US.
● Tin Plating The conductor is uniformly plated with tin. This economical plating method is the one most widely used. There are two plating methods, welding plating and electrical plating which offer more uniform surface than welding-plated. The standard continuous operating temperature is 150℃ . ● Silver Plating The conductor is uniformly electroplated with silver. This technique is used for conductors in signal transmission cables intended for use requiring high-frequency and heat resistance. The thickness of plating is 1μ or more. The standard continuous operating temperature is 200℃ . ● Nickel Plating The conductor is uniformly electroplated with nickel. Nickel plated wire is more resistant to heat than silver plated. The thickness of plating is 1μ or more. The standard continuous operating temperature is 260℃ . ● Tin Overcoating Single conductors are generally plated then st ra nde d t oget her. Plat e d c o nduct or s ha s excellent flexibility and widely used around the world. To improve its soldering characteristics and conductor-ladder, plating may applied to stranded conductors. Plating on stranded bareconductor called Top-coating and plating on stranded plated-conductor called over-coating. Note: Soldering traits of plated products degrade as aging. Be sure of its soldering features before using products preserved for long time.
3. Stranded Conductors
● Concentric Stranded Conductor Concentric stranded conductor is the stranded wire widely used in conductors for electrical use. Several layers of multiple wires are wrapped around of a core strand of one or multiple wires. The wrapping strands may be wrapped with a right-hand twist (S-stranding) or a left-hand twist (Z-stranding). ● Bunch Stranded Conductor Wires are bound together and stranded in the same direction. These cables are more flexible than concentric stranded conductor. ● Flex Stranded Conductor (Rope Lay Conductor) More than two sets of stranded wires are braided to form a structure similar to a rope. The wrapping wires may be wrapped in concentric-lay or bunched-lay configuration.
Conductor Material
2. Plating Material
To protect conductors from heat and oxidation and to make soldering easier, the conductor is coated with various materials.
Shielding Method
To stabilize electrical characteristics of wire/ cable, the shield covers over an insulator wire or stranded insulated wires. ● Braided Shield Braided shield is the most common manner of cable shielding. Tin or silver-plated conductor wires are wrapped in alternating directions and braided over the insulator. This shielding has remarkable flexibility and provides excellent protection for the cable. Parameters include number of carriers, number of ends, and conductor diameter (for example; 16/3/0.1). The conductor diameter refers to the outer diameter of a conductor wire used; number of ends refers to the number of conductor wires per unit bundle; number of carriers refers to the number of bundles braided into a single cable. Shielding conductors are selected for requiring shield effectiveness and outer diameter of insulated wire as braiding angles. The outer diameter increased five times of conductor diameter.
● Served Wire Shield Tin or silver plat ed conduct or s a re bundled into a unit and helically wrapped over the insulator. This type of shielding contributes to excellent flexibility and remarkable shield effectiveness. In addition to its space and weigh saving traits, served wire shield allows simple terminal t r e at m e nt . P r o d u ct p a r a m et er s a r e number of wires and conductor diameter. The conductor diameter refers to the outer diameter of a conductor wire used. Shielding conductors are selected for requiring outer diameter of insulated wire. The outer diameter increases as twice of the conductor diameter.
● Copper Tape shield Tin or silver plated copper tape is wrapped over the insulator in spiral. The drain wire may be applied for wire termination. Copper tape shield achieves finer and lighter shielding compared to braided shield. Copper tape with 40 or 50μ m thickness and 100% shield effectiveness is generally applied.
● Aluminized Polyester Tape Shield Aluminum and polyester laminated tape is wrapped over the insulator in spiral. The drain wire may be applied for wire termination. Aluminum and polyester tape shield achieves finer, lighter, and flexible shielding compared to other shielding methods. The shield effectiveness is 100%.
● Shield with Noise Reduction Layer By forming a semiconductive layer or shield between the insulation or wires a nd t he s h ield , it b e c o m e s p o s sible t o elim inat e ele ct r ic a l nois e due t o electrostatics generated by wire movement. Semiconductive material such as carbon is available.

Insulating Material
1.Main Insulating Material(Fluoropolymer) PTFE/PFA/FEP/ETFE/EPEFE
Insulating Material
● Expanded PTFE(EPTFE) Expanded PTFE (EPTFE) has developed by specially processing its physical component of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). By controlling the expansion, the dielectric constant decreases up to 1.23. This insulation is suitable for cable
in high-speed signal transmission with tiny delay time. The expansion allows additional flexibility and weigh saving of cables with other excellent properties as PTFE. The continuous operation temperature is -253 to 260℃ maintaining its inflammability and inert to most of the chemicals.
2. Other Insulating Material ● Polyimide Film Polyimide Film is obtained by polymerization of a romatic tetraba sic acid s a nd a romatic diamines. Polyimide Film has excellent electrical, physical, mechanical, and thermal properties over a wide range of temperature. It is highly heat resistance and has excellent dimensional stabilities, cut-through resistance, frictional resistance, electrical properties, radiation resistance, and great chemical resistance at high temperature. Single polyimide films and FEPcoated polyimide films are available. The latter is available to be heat shielded and winding several layers over conductors. The continuous operating temperature is -250 to 200℃ , the dielectric constant is 2.7 to 3.5, the dielectric constant is 0.001 to 0.003, and the volume resistivity is 2X1011Ω cm
● Polyvinyl chloride(PVC) Poly v inyl ch lor ide ( PVC) is pro duc ed by poly merization of v inyl chloride monomer obtained by the reaction of acetylene with hydrogen chloride or by the dechlorination of dichloroethane. Soft vinyl has a relatively high dielectric resistance and voltage resistance widely used in general purpose insulating wire. It is also used as jacket material of wires and cables for its remarkable inflammability, mechanical strength, oil-water resistance, ozone resistance, corrosion resistance. However, it is not suitable for highfrequency signal transmission because of its high dielectric constant and dielectric dissipation. The continuous operating temperature is -15 to 105℃ , the dielectric constant is 5 to 9, the dielectric constant is 0.07 to 0.16, and the volume resistivity is 1011 to1015Ω cm ● Polyurethane Poly u retha ne is ther mopla stic ela stomer s containing urethane groups (-NHCOO) formed by the reaction of active hydroxyl group (-OH)and an isocyanate group (-NCO). T hese poly mer s have excellent ela sticit y, t ou g h ne s s , f r ictiona l re sist a nce, weat her resistance, oil resistance, and other g reat properties contributing for wire and cable jacketing. The continuous operating temperature is -35 to 80℃ , the dielectric constant is 7.1, the dielectric constant is 0.015 to 0.017, and the volume resistivity is 2X1011Ω cm.

Woven Cable
Woven cables are flat cables consist of hook up single wires, twisted wires, or stranded wires that are laid in parallel and woven together by polypropylene weft. Terminal process is achieved by general stripper thus woven cables can be assembled with semiconductor substrate, square connectors, and round connectors. Features ● Excellent of mechanical strength such as cut through resistance, frictional resistance, and elasticity ● Remarkably flexible enables wiring with small bending radius ● The flat form contributes to high-density wiring, lightweight and wiring along wall ● High thermal diffusivity allows high electrical current operation ● Excellent transmitting properties of electrical signal ● Fluoropolymer insulation provides excellent electrical properties, mechanical strength and thermal properties ● Reduce miss wiring
Woven Cable
Intended Use ● Inner and intra connection for electronic/electrical equipment and compact equipment Note: PTFE or PFA insulated woven cable other than ETFE and FEP insulated woven wire is also available. Moreover, woven cable consists of shielded wires, coaxial cables, and stranded cables up to 3 cores are also available. PTFE weft is preferred when heat resistance is the most concern for properties.
