Game Theory - Syllabus Fall 2017 Timing: Mon and Wed 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. http://www.isid.ac.in/∼dmishra/game1.html The focus of the lectures will be on fundamentals of game theory. There will be five assignments. You are encouraged to complete the assignments (either individually or in group) for a better understanding of the topics. There will be a classtest (preannounced), a midterm, and one final exam. Classtest will be 20%, midterm will be 20%, and final exam will be 50%. Assignments will carry the remaining 10% weight. The following topics will be covered in the course: 1. Strategic-form games 2. Solution concepts: Dominance, rationalizability and iterated elimination of dominated strategies, Nash equilibrium. 3. Two-player zero sum games, max-min property. 4. Mixed strategies, Nash existence theorem, max-min and min-max in n-person games. 5. Correlated equilibrium. 6. Extensive-form games: backward induction and subgame perfect equilibrium, bargaining game of alternating offers. 7. Repeated games: finitely repeated games, infinitely repeated games, folk theorems. 8. Games of incomplete information: auction, bilateral trade. Textbook: Classnotes will be provided. Following books are good references. • A Course in Game Theory by Martin J. Osborne and Ariel Rubinstein. • Game Theory by Michael Maschler, Eilon Solan, and Shmuel Zamir. TA for the course: Komal Malik. TA Sessions will be held every week at 4 PM on Thursdays.
