Girl Scout Junior Insignia and Earned Awards

Girl Scout Membership Pin: Signifies fulfillment of membership requirements. It is worn on the Insignia Tab on the left side of the uniform, centered above the heart.

World Association Pin: This pin shows that you are part of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (also known as WAGGGS.) The golden trefoil on a blue background represents the sun shining over all the children in the world.

Badges: This is where girls build skills. Girls can work on badges that sound fun, or they can work on badges that will help build skills while they are working in a specific Journey. There are badge booklets to help explain the criteria for earning each badge.

Financial Literacy Badges: These badges are earned when girls participate in Council Sponsored product sales programs and learn how to use the money.

Cookie Badges: These badges are earned when girls participate in the Council sponsored cookie program.

Safety award: This is earned when Girl Scouts learn to stay safe during their Junior adventures.

My Promise, My Faith: Girls can earn this award each year they are a Junior. Girls work to show how the Girl Scout Law applied to their faith.

Leadership Journey Awards: Girls can earn awards by working in the Journey Books. Each Journey book has three awards that the girls can earn. Criteria can be found in the Adult Guide Books for that particular Journey.

Junior Journey Summit: Girls can earn this award by completing all three Journeys at the Junior level.

Membership Stars: Each star represents one year as a Girl Scout and is pinned on the disc. The color of the disc shows your level. Girl Scout Juniors get a yellow disc. The number of stars shows how many years you’ve been a member at each level.

Bridging Awards: Fifth grade Juniors who have completed the bridging requirements that are found in the Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting, can earn the bridging award. This award is presented at a bridging ceremony that is held at the end of the year. NOTE: This is an optional award. Fifth grade Girl Scout Juniors do not need to earn the “Bridge to Girl Scout Brownies Award” to be considered Girl Scout Cadette once they move to the 6th grade.

Bronze Award: The highest award a Girl Scout Junior can achieve. To earn this award, girls will team up with friends. Together they will pick a project that they care about and that will make a difference in the world. As they complete the project, they will meet new people; develop more confidence and have a lot of fun.

Junior Aide: Girls can earn this mentoring award by teaming up with a Daisy or Brownie troop and make and complete a plan to help the Daisies or Brownies on their Journey.
