SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE 22ND MARCH, 2015

CHRIST IS OUR CORNERSTONE On Him alone we build; With His true saints alone The courts of heaven are filled; On His great love our hopes we place Of present grace and joys above.

2 O then with hymns of praise

These hallowed courts shall ring; Our voices we will raise The Three in One to sing; And thus proclaim in joyful song Both loud and long, that glorious Name.

3 Here, gracious God, do Thou

Forever more draw nigh; Accept each faithful vow, And mark each suppliant sigh; In copious shower on all who pray, Each holy day, Thy blessings pour.

4 Here may we gain from Heav’n,

The grace which we implore; And may that grace, once given, Be with us evermore; Until that day when all the blest To endless rest are called away.

WATCHING AND PRAYING: A HEAVENLY HABIT “You must stay awake and pray. God can help you, so that you will not do the wrong thing. You really want to do the right thing, but you are too weak to stay awake.” (Matthew 26:41 EasyEnglish) The ability to pray is not in-born. It is something we develop with practice and many have fallen by the way side because they have not mastered how to stand in prayer. At a critical point in Jesus’ ministry, as he got closer to the time of his crucifixion, he engaged the force of prayer and asked three of his disciples to stand in the gap with him. When they could not pray, he warned them that they needed to pray so that they do not enter into temptation or in a worse case, do the wrong thing. As Christians, prayer is a strong weapon we use especially in times of challenges. If you are facing a challenge in your life, it is time to begin to pray that God will help you escape. The prayer of a righteous man is packed with such dynamic power that any sort of challenge that is facing the one who prays will automatically be shattered by the force of prayer. In this season of breaking forth, God has already given us all that pertains to life and godliness but only those who are able to pray will be possess the gifts that God had given to us. Be therefore encouraged to begin to pray for your breakthrough today in Jesus Name, Amen! Apart from praying, it is also important for us to know how to watch. There are too aspects to our watching. The first is the watching that precedes our prayer and the second is the watching the follows our prayer. The one who will pray with wisdom must open ones spiritual and physical eyes to discern what needs to be interceded upon. It might be realizing that the devil is operating in the life of someone and standing in the place of prayer to pray for a change. The second watching relates to what we do when we have prayed. Some people go forth from the place of prayer without considering the outcome of their prayers. God answers prayers—so when we pray, we should check to see what answers we have received. This is a different dimension of watching but it is also important.

The habit of watching and praying is a heavenly habit which will prepare us against onslaughts of the enemy. Its about a readiness to understand the devices of the enemy and standing in place of prayer to forestall those devices. When we watch and pray, just like Jesus taught his disciples, we prepare ourselves with an inert resistance to temptation. We need not fall into temptations first before we start praying because if we do, we may not be able to escape and it might be too late.

01634575433 Sunday 7.00 - 8.00 pm

Therefore, as we watch and pray, God’s Spirit begins to release within us with insights of what we need to do that should help us not to enter into temptation. Jesus prayed at a critical point in his ministry and God helped him and today, he is given a name above every other name. For us today, if we are to achieve the height of glory heaven has planned for us, we must begin to watch and pray!
