INTRODUCING PAULA BROWN Paula Brown, an award-winning art director, designer and creative director, combines strong advertising creative concepts, innovative design, and fresh insights into solutions for branding and marketing communications. She is a “Brand Activist”. The creative expression of her studio Paula Brown Creative is the ability to discover and embody the emotional “heart” or the passion of her client’s core branding message. Her talent and passion is to help her clients spark their brand into a huge light that both supports thier unique benefit or mission as well as attracts those who seek their product or service. To authentically ignite, activate, grow her client’s business. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Washington, she began her career in Seattle at Kraft Smith Advertising in 1975. Three years later, Paula accepted a position at Quinn & Johnson in Boston, where she spent four years working for such clients as Honeywell and The Boston Globe. Over the next ten years, Paula added to her client experience in travel (Holland America Cruise Lines, Marriott, Koala Inns, Sun Valley Resorts), fast food (McDonald’s, KFC, Friendly Ice Cream Restaurants), technology (Elephant Memory Systems, Concentric Data Systems), health care (Blue Cross, Blue Shield), financial (Fleet National Bank, Maine Savings Bank), and retail (Jiffy Lube, Pastene Foods, Sporto Shoes) for agencies in both Boston and Seattle. Paula became Vice President, Senior Art Director / ACD of Boston’s Arnold & Co. in 1987. Two years later, she moved to Los Angeles to work on Jack In The Box restaurants at Cohen/Johnson. As an independent art director / creative director and now design director of her own shop, Paula has brought her problem-solving creativity to a wide variety of clients, agencies and advertisers in and outside of Southern California, some of whom are listed below. Whether working in television, print, corporate design, interactive, or direct marketing, she has developed a reputation for creating and executing ideas that meet objectives, deadlines and budgets. Her experience in TV and long format print along with studies in web design at Art Center in Los Angeles, also creates a natural design extension of her passion for branding into the interactive world. Paula’s most recent education is in Social Media from UCLA Social Media curriculum including a full Social Media plan and creative strategy for The Los Angeles Clippers Basketball team. Paula has received numerous awards from The NY Art Director’s Club (One Show), Hatch, Best of the West, Art Director’s Club of Boston, Bell Ringers, National BPAA, and the Type Director’s Club of New York, as well as an Andy and a Belding. She also has memberships in the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Board Member of the AIGA /LA, and a Member of TapRoot. Paula’s interest in community and education has lead her to guest lecturing at Colleges and Universities as well as teaching Creativity, Type and Color at UCSD, San Diego.
