Journal of Applied Physiology Manuscript Categories: Mini-Reviews for Hypoxia 2017 LENGTH The recommended length for mini-reviews is 3-5 published pages (10-18 double-spaced typed manuscript pages, or 2500-4500 words). Figures and references should be limited to a maximum of 4 and 100, respectively. FORMAT Mini-reviews should conform to JAP style guidelines, available in the Instructions for Authors section of the American Physiological Society website. http://www.the-aps.org/mm/Publications/Info-For-Authors CONTENT A mini-review, by definition, is a non-exhaustive review of a selected topic area. It is appropriate to provide a discussion on future research directions, including potential applications to humans, if applicable. Whenever appropriate, it is recommended that authors include references to past JAP articles, especially those published within the last two years. Mini-reviews should include an abstract and should employ cartoons or other types of summary figures to address major issues. Questions regarding content should be directed to the Associate Editor and/or Guest Editor coordinating the Highlighted Topics series. SUBMISSION Mini-reviews must be submitted electronically via the Journal of Applied Physiology online submission website (http://jappl.msubmit.net/cgibin/main.plex) on or before the specified submission deadline of February 7th, 2017. The Editor’s office is available to provide assistance with PDF conversion, or to answer questions about the submission process. A Mandatory Submission Form, generated automatically by the system upon completion of the submission process, must be signed and returned to the peer review office, via fax, at 301.634.7243, or via the journal website. Submission fees and page charges are waived for invited material. Mini-Reviews, like all other manuscripts, are subject to peer-review, and though they are invited, acceptance of mini-reviews is not guaranteed. Please note that manuscripts will be screened for textual overlap. You may be requested to revise your manuscript before review. hx2017_HighlightedTopics_JAPPL_format.doc
