This action has been effected as a precaution to protect the credibility of the national examinations process and integrity of the qualification. Examinations in all other subjects scheduled for the August 2017 examinations will proceed as indicated on the national examinations timetable.

The Department is required to replace a question paper where evidence is provided ahead of writing the paper that it had been compromised failing which the relevant quality assurance council will not recognise the results of the affected subject. The Department is working with the HAWKS and has opened a case with the South African Police Services to immediately begin investigating the origin and possible causes for the alleged August 2017 examination paper leakages. The Department regrets the decision to postpone the writing of these question papers and inconvenience caused to affected students.
