Ponderosa Easter egg hunt

Ponderosa Restaurant in Morehead hosted an Easter egg hunt for local children. Nearly 150 kids participated. Staff at the restaurant wanted to thank the following for their help: Big Lots, Cooley Construction, Ann’s Hair Salon, Hott Heads Salon, Puckett’s Floor Care, Salon & Day Spa, Morehead Cinemas, Hibbett Sports, Peddler’s Mall, Holbrook’s Embroidery Plus, Good Shepherd Printing, Corey Vance and Jimmy Justis.

Art exhibit, concert, golf outing among upcoming MSU events A number of activities have been planned for the celebration that will showcase the numerous accomplishments and talents of members of the Morehead State University community. These include the Celebration of Student Scholarship, a student art exhibition, the President’s Spring Concert on the Lawn the Spring Celebration Golf Outing hosted by the College of Business and Public Affairs and Gala. The Celebration of Student Scholarship will start from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, in the Adron Doran University Center (ADUC). More than 100 students will give presentations on their work. Also on Wednesday will be the opening reception for an art exhibition from 5-7 p.m. in the Claypool-Young Art Building gallery. The exhibition will be available for viewing from April 25-May 9. The President’s Spring Concert on the Lawn is set for Thursday, April 26, at 5 p.m. in the ADUC Commons area. The entertainment will be by MSU’s Jazz Big Band. From 710 p.m. on Thursday, the Student Program-

ming Board will host its “Spring Fling” also on the ADUC Commons area. The Spring Celebration Golf Outing will be held on Friday, April 27. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch at noon. The golf will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m. at Eagle Trace Golf Course. The week will be capped off by the 2012 Spring Gala at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres as they visit with local community and business leaders and MSU alumni and friends. During the reception, guests also will be able to browse and bid on a fantastic array of silent auction items. These items will include travel packages, hand crafted art by MSU students and faculty, athletic memorabilia, local attractions and gift certificates. Following the reception, guests will enjoy fine dining prepared by Aramark Classic Fare Catering. Sponsors and Circle of Excellence members will be recognized during the dinner. Upcoming events at Haldeman Community Center During the month of May, Haldeman Community Center, 4399 Open Fork Road, will be having two events: Car show, May 12: The host car club is the Carter County Cruisers. Top 20 plus 10 specialties. Registration is at 9 a.m. The show lasts until 1 p.m., $10 per entry, spectators free. There will be a 50/50 drawing, raffles and more. Class donation to STAR This past Friday, STAR (Saving the Animals of Rowan) members Anissa and Amelia Carlisle presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Cathy Powers and her 8th grade Language Arts Class for their donation to STAR. The class donated $116, which is enough to save the lives of two dogs at the pound.
