CitadelSix Custom Design Heraldry Decals CitadelSix Custom Design is a small, home-based, one-man venture, set up and run by a keen war-gaming modeller in the UK. The sole service and product that I provide are custom-designed and printed heraldry decals intended primarily for enhancing 25/28mm scale plastic and pewter miniature figures used for historic and fantasy war-gaming. I use a consultancy approach to produce the custom-designed heraldry decals for clients. Through entirely e-mail based communication, I work with the client to understand and develop the heraldic designs. Once the initial concepts are understood, I then produce a series of design proofs until the final heraldry is accomplished. Once the client is happy with the final version, I then produce the decal masters and subsequently print the actual decal set. The important points to note are that: Ÿ I don't charge for any of the actual time it takes to do the design work, chiefly because I actually enjoy the process of designing and creating the heraldry. And if I did charge, it would make the cost of the finished product prohibitive to my intended clientele. Ÿ The heraldry decals are unique to the client and therefore to the client’s miniature army. Ÿ During the design process, I provide advice and suggestions to my clients, to ensure the finished heraldry is authentic and complies with the traditions of the heraldic art. The decals are created from 300bpi density JPEG images, to provide clear graphical reproduction of the heraldry. The decals are then printed with a colour laser printer onto a white background letter-sized (216mm x 279.5mm or 8.5in x 11in) decal paper. Although the heraldry decal sets are intended for war-gaming enthusiasts, they are mainly aimed at those hobbyists who enjoy the painting and model-making as much as the war-game playing itself. I mention this, because the decals do require a more advanced level of model-making and painting ability. However, clear instructions are provided with each decal set to obtain the best results. The decal sets are also accompanied by printed instructions and templates for making medieval-style banners and standards. Currently, I sell two basic decal sets, both for the Games Workshop® Bretonnian® range of miniatures, as detailed below. The Knights' set comprises two letter-sized sheets containing a total of 252 decals, which is enough to fully enhance: Ÿ 8 X Knights: Ÿ Heater shield. Ÿ Surcoat - front and back. Ÿ Espaliers (shoulder armour) left and right sides. Ÿ 8 X Barded warhorses: Ÿ Barding - left and right sides. Ÿ Harness shields - front and back, and left and right sides. Ÿ Chamfron (face armour). Ÿ 1 X Musician’s trumpet banner - left and right sides. Ÿ 1 X Unit banner - left and right sides. Ÿ 1 X Knight’s medieval style banner - left and right sides, for customising the knights’ unit banner, Ÿ 1 X Duke’s, Earl’s, Count’s or Baron’s medieval style battle banner - left and right sides, for customising the unit banner. Ÿ 1 X Duke’s, Earl’s, Count’s Baron’s medieval style battle standard - left and right sides, for customising the unit banner. Ÿ 1 X spare decal for each type of shield shape, size and heraldic design featured in the set.

The Men at Arms and Peasant Bowmen set comprises one letter-sized sheet containing a total of 94 decals, which is enough to fully enhance: Ÿ 16 X Men at Arms or Bowmen - 4 X 4 different style pavises. Ÿ 2 X Musicians’ drums - front and back. Ÿ 2 X Unit banners - left and right sides. Ÿ 2 X Duke’s, Earl’s, Count’s or Baron’s medieval style battle standard - left and right sides, for customising the unit banner. Ÿ 6 X Mounted Yeomen’s heater shields. Ÿ 1 X Trebuchet: Ÿ Shields on the frame uprights. Ÿ Shield on the throwing arm. Ÿ Shield on the counter-weight. Ÿ 1 X spare decal for each type of shield shape, size and heraldic design featured in the set. The prices of the decal sets are: Knights .................................................. Men at Arms and Peasant Bowmen .....

£10. £5.

However, if an individual heraldic design is required for each of the eight Knights, then an additional £1 is charged for the heraldry of knights 2 to 8; the heraldry of knight 1 being part of the basic set’s price. Likewise, an additional £1 is added to the basic set price for each unique design required for Men at Arms’ pavises 2 to 16; again Man at Arms’ pavise 1 is part of the basic set’s price. The reason for this additional ‘per heraldry’ charge is because each unique design has to be imported into the appropriate decal types included in the master template, to provide a full compliment of decals for each miniature. Please note that the only method of payment I can accept is PayPal. Once my client is satisfied with the finished heraldry designs, I send a PayPal invoice for the agreed amount, including postage, to the client via e-mail. Upon confirmation from PayPal that payment has been received, I then print and mail the decals to the client. I do not print anything before payment has been made. Below are some examples of Bretonnian miniatures displaying heraldry that has all been achieved (including all the individual ermine spots) with decals produced by CitadelSix Custom Design.

On the next page is just a very small sample of the heraldry decal designs that can be produced for the serious war-gamers and hobbyists who wish to make their miniatures unique on the gaming table and, hopefully, the envy of their opponents.
