Get up to 25% cash back on thousands of HealthyFood products What is the HealthyFood benefit? Discovery Vitality aims to make eating healthily easier with the HealthyFood benefit. By activating the HealthyFood benefit, you will get up to 25% cash back on HealthyFood if you buy at a HealthyFood partner. HealthyFood is a range of foods including vegetables, fruit, unrefined carbohydrates, lean protein foods, fat free dairy products, lentils and legumes and healthy fats and oils that can help prevent lifestyle related chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. So, with the HealthyFood benefit you can enjoy a variety of HealthyFood items for better health and you’ll get great savings too. This document explains how to get the most from the HealthyFood benefit.
What this benefit offers Vitality members The HealthyFood benefit gives you cash back on HealthyFood items at the HealthyFood partners. When you activate the benefit, you qualify for up to 10% cash back on HealthyFood at our HealthyFood partners .To increase your cash back to up to 25%, you and your spouse (if applicable) must complete a Vitality Health Review every 12 months.
Who may use the benefit? The HealthyFood benefit is available to Vitality members who have activated the benefit. Only the main member and spouse (if applicable) may activate the benefit. When you activate the HealthyFood benefit, you agree that your transactional data may be shared between Discovery Vitality, Pick n Pay and/or Woolworths to record your HealthyFood purchases. To qualify for HealthyFood cash back at Woolworths, you have to be a Discovery Health member on one of the following plans:

HealthyFood purchased at the other partner will still qualify for 10% cash back. Once you have activated the Pick n Pay HealthyFood benefit, we will post your Pick n Pay Vitality HealthyFood card to you within three weeks.

If you have a MySchool, MyVillage or MyPlanet card, you will need to give them permission to share your personal information before you activate the HealthyFood benefit. You can apply for a Woolworths Difference card at www.woolworths.co.za The HealthyFood benefit is not available at Woolworths Foodstops at Engen.
You must swipe your DiscoveryCard twice at Pick n Pay Remember to swipe your DiscoveryCard twice at Pick n Pay – once before the cashier rings up your purchases and again to pay. If you do not produce the Pick n Pay Vitality HealthyFood card or
DiscoveryCard at the Pick n Pay till before the sale is processed, you will not get the HealthyFood cash back. You cannot claim afterwards for purchases. DiscoveryCard members can increase their savings at Pick n Pay. Make sure that you have activated the smart shopper Multiplier benefit to multiply your smart shopper points at Pick n Pay.For more information: Visit www.discovery.co.za, go to 'Card' and select the 'smart shopper Multiplier'. Complete a Vitality Health Review and select your 25% cash back partner You qualify for cash back of up to 10% on HealthyFood when you activate the HealthyFood benefit. To increase your cash back to up to 25% is easy. Log in to www.discovery.co.za, click on ‘Vitality’, go to ’Know your health’ and complete the Vitality Health Review. You can also call 0860 99 88 77 to find out how to complete one. You need to complete a Vitality Health Review every 12 months to maintain your 25% cash back. The Vitality Health Review tells you more about your health status, risks and increases your cash back on HealthyFood to up to 25%. On a family membership, both the main member and spouse (if applicable) have to complete a Vitality Health Review to qualify for the up to 25% cash back. If you qualify for the HealthyFood benefit at Woolworths, you have to choose if you want to get up to 25% cash back at Woolworths OR Pick n Pay before you complete the Vitality Health Review. All other HealthyFood purchased at the other partner will still qualify for up to 10% cash back. You can only choose your preferred HealthyFood partner once every 12 months.
Earn your rewards You can earn Vitality points for every HealthyFood item you buy at Woolworths or Pick n Pay! The ‘How Healthy is your Basket’ tool will show you exactly how healthy your food choices are every month. You will earn up to 20 Vitality points for every healthy item and we will deduct 5 points for every less desirable item you buy. The least amount of points you can earn is zero. You can never have a negative points value in a month. HealthyFood purchases can earn you a maximum of 750 Vitality points per month which adds up to 9000 Vitality points per annum.
Items that qualify for the HealthyFood cash back All HealthyFood items are identified as “VIT” on your till slip.
Look out for the Vitality HealthyFood stamp on shelf labels in-store to identify Woolworths HealthyFood items.

How to calculate your cash back Your cash back is based on the percentage of savings you have qualified for, subject to the monthly limit per member. To work out how much cash you get back, we apply your qualifying discount percentage. The percentage is either 10% or 25%. We apply the percentage to the lower of two amounts, depending on the nominated HealthyFood partner. As a family, you get cash back on a maximum of R4 000 a month that you spend on HealthyFood. As a single member, you get cash back on a maximum of R2 000 a month that you spend on HealthyFood. Your HealthyFood spend that you get cash back on is also limited to the number of Vitality points you have for the year. So make sure you keep doing healthy activities to earn Vitality points. Vitality cash back is calculated monthly. To receive cash back for the entire period, you must still be eligible for the cash back on the calculation date. The percentage you qualify for over the cash back period is determined on the date of calculation and not the date of purchase. These examples explain how the cash back is worked out for a single member and a family. Your monthly HealthyFood spend The example below explains how the cash back is calculated for members who have activated both the Pick n Pay and Woolworths HealthyFood benefit. This example is based on a family where the main member and spouse have completed a Vitality Health Review. The member gets up to 25% cash back at Woolworths and up to 10% cash back at Pick n Pay.

*In March, the family’s total spend on HealthyFood for the year is R6 000 and they only have a total of 7 000 Vitality points for the year. So, they only get their HealthyFood cash back on R1 000 and not on the full R3 200 they spent in March (7 000 points – R6 000 = cash back of 25% of R1 000). To make sure they can continue to get cash back, the main member and spouse both completed a Vitality Health Review and each earned 2 000 Vitality points. So, they were once again able to buy and get cash back on HealthyFood in April.
Payment of cash back Choosing your cash back payment method We can pay your cash back into one of the following accounts: -

We will pay your HealthyFood cash back into your nominated account every month. Only the main member on the Vitality membership may select the chosen bank account and is the person responsible for making sure the details are correct. To change your bank account details, please go to www.discovery.co.za or call us on 0860 99 88 77. We pay all cash back on a policy level and not on an individual basis. The bank account chosen for this benefit is applicable to all the HealthyCare, HealthyGear and HealthyFood cash back. We pay your cash back at certain times of the month, at our own discretion. We will not send statements that show your cash back. You can see a summary of your cash back on www.discovery.co.za. You will also get an SMS once we have paid your cash back. If your monthly cash back is low, we may wait until the next month to pay If your monthly cash back is below a pre-set amount, we may keep that cash back until the next month. The pre-set amount is currently R50. You may pay tax on cash back you earn You are advised to get your own tax advice regarding any benefit you may receive in terms of these rules. Discovery will not be responsible for any tax consequences.
Only the person named on the Pick n Pay Vitality HealthyFood and Woolworths loyalty cards may use it Fraud or any other misuse of the Pick n Pay Vitality HealthyFood card is illegal. The HealthyFood benefit is for personal household use and only the person whose name is on the back of the card may use it. If you allow anyone whose name is not on the Pick n Pay Vitality HealthyFood card to use it, we have the right to cancel your HealthyFood benefit and membership of Vitality. You cannot use the Pick n Pay Vitality HealthyFood card as a credit, debit or guarantee card. The Pick n Pay Vitality HealthyFood card is the property of Vitality HealthStyle (Pty) Limited. We may issue, decline or withdraw the Pick n Pay Vitality HealthyFood card any time. Only the Pick n Pay Vitality HealthyFood or Woolworths loyalty cards that have been linked to the HealthyFood benefit may be swiped for cash back. You will not get cash back if you swipe a Woolworths loyalty card that has not been linked to the HealthyFood benefit.
The Pick n Pay and Woolworths HealthyFood online catalogues The selection criteria for foods to be included are currently based on internationally accepted dietary guidelines. Our nutrition experts have done extensive research to make sure the foods chosen for the HealthyFood benefit align with scientifically proven best practice. Only certain
products in each food category meet the HealthyFood criteria. Certain products in Pick n Pay and Woolworths stores have not been included as part of the HealthyFood range, although these foods may form part of an individual’s healthy eating and exercise programme. The approved products represent the healthiest choices within each food group and, when taken in the recommended quantities, all form part of a healthy balanced diet. The product selection process for the HealthyFood benefit is constantly under review and we may therefore revise our position, depending on scientific and industry developments. Products listed in the online catalogues are subject to seasonal and supplier availability and may only be available at certain Pick n Pay and Woolworths stores. Ending this benefit
If your Vitality membership ends, you may no longer use the Vitality HealthyFood benefit and your accumulated cash back will be forfeited.
If you change your medical aid plan and you are no longer on one of the Discovery Health plans mentioned in this document, you will no longer qualify for the HealthyFood benefit at Woolworths.
You may still have access to a HealthyFood benefit in one of these cases:
If you join Remedi medical scheme through the company you work for, you can use the HealthyFood Saver benefit. This benefit has a separate set of terms and conditions and the Vitality HealthyFood terms and conditions do not apply.
If you have a KeyCare Health Plan and join KeyFIT, you can use the KeyFIT HealthyFood benefit. This benefit has a separate set of terms and conditions and the Vitality HealthyFood terms and conditions do not apply.
If you move to one of the two options above within 30 days of ending your Vitality membership, we will automatically activate the HealthyFood benefit if you used it on Vitality. If you join through these options more than 30 days after ending your Vitality membership, you must activate the HealthyFood benefit again.
