INTRODUCTION

T h i s t e s t r e p o r t documents t h e r e s u l t s f r o m t h e acceptance t e s t i n g o f t h e Honeywell Modular Automation System (MAS). The t e s t war; p e r f o r m e d u s i n g WHC-SD-CP-ATP-071, "Honeywell Modular A u t o m a t i o n System Acceptance T e s t Procedure" i n c o n j u n c t i o n w i t h Job C o n t r o l System work package 22-96-162. A completed copy o f t h e t e s t i s a t t a c h e d as Appendix A. The Honeywell MAS w i l l be i n s t a l l e d i n Room 230A t o c o n t r o l s i x t h e r m a l s t a b i l i z a t i o n f u r n a c e s i n gloveboxes HA-ZOMB and HA-211. The use o f t h i s system e l i m i n a t e s t h e need f o r d i s c r e t e c o n t r o l l e r s and a l a r m s w i t c h e s f o r each o f t h e f u r n a c e s . 2.0

TEST RESULT DISCUSSION

The performance o f t h e acceptance t e s t was completed w i t h o n l y one m i n o r e x c e p t i o n . D u r i n g t e s t i n g , i t was observed t h a t t h e a n a l o g i n p u t s were n o t i m m e d i a t e l y r e c o g n i z e d . I n some i n s t a n c e s , i t r e q u i r e d up t o 5 m i n u t e s f o r t h e PLC t o accept i n p u t f r o m t e s t thermocouples o r f r o m t h e t r a n s m a t i o n PPS f l e x i t e s t e r . Once r e c o g n i t i o n was a c h i e v e , t h e i n p u t c o u l d be m a n i p u l a t e d w i t h o u t d i f f i c u l t y . S i n c e t e s t was completed, t h e d e v i a t i o n a l a r m has been s e t t o f 2 0 " C f r o m +25"C. The e x p e c t e d change t o t h e d e v i a t i o n a l a r m has n o t t a k e n p l a c e and t h i s a c t i o n w i l l b r i n g t h e programming i n t o l i n e w i t h c u r r e n t documentation. ExceDtion R e s o l u t i o n When p e r f o r m i n g t h e thermocouple i n p u t checks, i t was d i s c e r n e d t h a t t h e e x p e c t e d d i s p l a y range ( i n p u t t e m p e r a t u r e It 0.5"C) was t o r e s t r i c t i v e f o r t h i s system. N i n e o f t h e 24 analog i n p u t addresses had g r e a t e r t h a n 0.5"C d i s p l a y e r r o r s . However, t h e g r e a t e s t d i f f e r e n c e i n d i s p l a y t e m p e r a t u r e t o i n p u t t e m p e r a t u r e was l e s s t h a n 2°C a t 1000°C. T h i s i s l e s s t h a n a 0.2% e r r o r o f t h e thermocouple range. A more r e a s o n a b l e e r r o r r a n g e o f 2% f o r d i s p l a y r e a d i n g s s h o u l d have been r e q u i r e d .

SCOPE T h i s ATP p r o v i d e s i n s t r u c t i o n s f o r t e s t i n g t h e c o n f i g u r a t i o n o f t h e The t e s t w i l l be Honeywell MAS a t t h e P l u t o n i u m F i n i s h i n g P l a n t ( P F P ) . a bench t e s t o f t h e a n a l o g i n p u t s , a n a l o g o u t p u t s , and s o f t w a r e i n t e r l o c k s . The i n t e r l o c k t e s t w i l l c h e c k t h e d i g i t a l i n p u t and o u t p u t s . F i e l d equipment w i l l n o t be c o n n e c t e d f o r t h i s t e s t . S i m u l a t e d s i g n a l s w i l l be used f o r t h e r m o c o u p l e and l i m i t s w i t c h i n p u t s . An O p e r a t i o n a l T e s t P r o c e d u r e (OTP) w i l l be w r i t t e n t o p e r f o r m f i e l d t e s t i n g once t h e MAS and f u r n a c e s have been i n s t a l l e d .
