Improving your Report Writing Skills Writing a good report is a challenge for many development practitioners. It should captivate the interest of the reader from beginning to end, carrying them along with engaging evidence and strong analysis. Many say our oral culture and educational system do not prepare us well for this. This course is designed to provide participants with practical skills and tips for strengthening writing and written presentation, with particular focus on writing reports for funders. It provides the opportunity to practice and receive feedback on writing and to identify how your writing can be continually improved.
This 2-day practical course is designed to equip participants with the requisite skills and knowledge which will enable them to write reports that earn the reader’s respect and attention. The course includes:
Elements of clear writing Features of a good report Communicating effectively through your writing Tools for organising content and flow Developing style, accuracy and written presentation Writing practice Giving and receiving feedback on writing How to continue your learning
Intended audience This course is ideal for anyone who finds report writing a challenge and would like to improve their report writing. It is especially useful for project officers who have a responsibility for writing reports on project activities and for those writing up research findings
