Microsoft® Digital Literacy Instructions Microsoft ® Digital Literacy is a free online course designed to teach you how to use a computer more effectively. To help you access these online courses, Job Service North Dakota placed the Microsoft ® curriculum on designated computers. Just click on the icons to view the Basic and Standard courses. (The Digital Lifestyles and Advanced courses are not available on Job Service computers, but can be accessed using this link: www.microsoft.com/digitalliteracy.) Follow the instructions below if you are accessing courses somewhere other than at a Job Service office. The middle part of the first screen looks like this: Click Basic curriculum to learn about using the mouse and the keyboard. Click on Standard curriculum or Version 3 to access the standard courses. Click on Advanced curriculum to access the advances courses.

The Basic curriculum screen looks like this: Click on Launch e-learning to begin the course. Click on Launch assessment to test yourself after completing a course.

The Microsoft® Digital Literacy curriculum has three levels. • The Basic curriculum features a course called A First Course Toward Digital Literacy. This course teaches the value of computers in society and introduces you to using a mouse and the keyboard. • The Standard curriculum features five courses that cover computer basics; using the internet and productivity programs; security and privacy; and digital lifestyles. These five courses are available in three versions that use examples and screenshots from different versions of Windows and Microsoft® Office. Please read the details below. • The Advanced curriculum features four courses that cover creating an e-mail account, creating a great resume, searching for content on the World Wide Web and social networking. The Standard curriculum is available in three versions. Version 3 uses examples and simulations from Windows 7 and Microsoft ® Office 2010.
