Your home from home

The Oxford and Cambridge Club provides alumni from both universities with an exclusive home from home in the heart of the capital. Its superb facilities, spacious accommodation and unrivalled reputation for fine dining and first class service continue to evolve to meet the changing demands of business and leisure but without sacrificing the traditional style and ambience which continues to draw new members to the pleasures and privileges of London’s clubland. Designed by Sir Robert Smirke, the architect responsible for the British Museum, the Club’s impressive facade illuminates London’s Pall Mall. Inside, the quirkiness of the exterior gives way to monumental spaces and beauty, and a whole host of member benefits.

A thriving social scene

The Club has a burgeoning social scene with many events organised by the Younger Members’ Committee. Recent highlights have included a Comedy Night, Whisky and Port tastings, an Inter-Club Crawl and the Winter Masquerade Ball.

For inspiration

The Clubs’ hugely popular Discussion Dinners and Writers’ Lunches have seen some highly distinguished speakers, including the MP, Vince Cable, Liberty International’s Chief Executive Shami Chakrabarti and the Royal Society’s Lord Rees of Ludlow OM.

A home from home

Over 40 bedrooms boast private bathrooms, flatscreen televisions and a continental breakfast, representing great value for anyone wishing to stay in the heart of London. Further discounts are available at weekends and accommodation is extended to guests of members.

Fine dining

In the past, the Club’s menu has included eel pie and larks, but today more contemporary fare is offered. An à la carte menu is served in the Coffee Room with lighter snacks available throughout the Club. Members can also choose from over 44,000 bottles of wine, housed in the Club’s cellars.

Work and Play

The Club has an arrangement with a nearby sports club giving members access to pool, gym and sauna facilities as well as the squash courts and billiard room they already enjoy at No.71. In addition, regular tournaments are organised for players of golf, bridge, chess and backgammon. And with a dedicated business area equipped with Wi Fi connection, members can find a safe haven from the hustle and bustle of the capital.

The Library

Much valued by members, and recognised as one of the finest of its kind in London, the Club library occupies a set of spacious and beautifully appointed rooms on the second floor. Today it holds more than 25,000 volumes with a librarian in attendance during the week to assist members.

Private banqueting

The Club house at 71 Pall Mall is exceptionally well suited to the diverse demands of modern entertaining and banqueting. A highly experienced team is able to plan and arrange everything from a small business meeting for three or four, to a party for more than 150.
