NO CONFESSIONS ON SUNDAYS & HOLY DAYS PARISH MISSION STATEMENT Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Redemptorist) Church is a Roman Catholic community where through liturgy, prayer, Sacramental Ministry, and Christian Education, we are formed into Disciples of the Lord, reaching out to love and welcome one another, especially the poor and most abandoned among us. As disciples, we seek to follow Jesus’ instructions to “preach” the Gospel through the way we live our lives.
Pastor’s Letter— Letter—December 24, 2017 Dear Parishioners and Friends, Merry Christmas! We hope your Christmas worship experience at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church will bring you closer to Jesus Christ. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day our senses are filled with the sights, sounds, tastes and feelings of wonderment at the great love our God has shown us by sending us His Son to share in our humanity so that we might share in His divinity. With all these sights, sounds, tastes and feelings, not many words are necessary…only

Women’s Bible Study The last session of the current Women’s Bible Study ended on December 18th. The group will take a break until January 8th.
Just a reminder—The next diocesan training for Communion Ministers will take place here at Redemptorist on Tuesday, January 16th and Thursday January 18th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Father Paul Turner will conduct the training. Participants must attend both sessions for certification.
Beginning January 8th, the group will begin a study called The Wild Goose (a Celtic term for the Holy Spirit). This new session focuses on deepening our relationship with the Holy Spirit. To sign up, or for more information, please contact Rebecca Alvarez at (816) 620-5785 or by email to

From Father Gary: We invite and strongly encourage all current parish Communion ministers to sign up and attend and refresh their knowledge of their roles, and those wishing to become new Communion Ministers to sign up. Year-End Donations – Give Yourself Plenty of Time! Many of you like to make special donations right at the year’s end. To ensure credit for 2017, please allow ample time for the contributions to reach the office safely before the end of the year, especially if you are mailing or using our online system. Either can take several days to arrive, especially with all the extra non-banking, non-postal days this time of year. All contributions dropped in the collection basket up to and including Sunday, December 31st will be counted in tax year 2017. Beginning Monday, January 1st, all contributions in the basket or arriving in the office via mail, online, or walked in will be credited to tax year 2018.
The Redemptorist Foundation A Gift That Will Live Through the Centuries Have you ever thought about enrolling yourself or someone you love in the Redemptorist Foundation? It is a wonderful way to remember or honor a family member or loved one with a beautiful bronze plaque next to the Altar of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. Your contribution will help to maintain Redemptorist Church, educate young men for the Redemptorist Priesthood or Brotherhood and have Masses said regularly for the members of the Foundation. For more information about the Redemptorist Foundation, please call the parish office at (816) 561-3771. Our office hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Saturday.

We thank you for your presence among us, for your prayers, and for your generous monetary offerings, which we know are sometimes given in great sacrifice. Our promise is to be good stewards with the contributions you entrust to our care.
TO BE A CHRISTIAN STEWARD: A Summary of the U.S. Bishops' Pastoral Letter on Stewardship "As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace" (1 Pt 4:10).
Calendar Raffle Update
“What identifies a steward? Safeguarding material and human resources and using them responsibly are one answer; so is generous giving of time, talent, and treasure. But being a Christian steward means more. As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord.”
Congratulations to the most recent winners in our Calendar Raffle: December 14
