WORSHIP

Sunday, February 11, 2018

Almighty God, we pray for your blessing on the church in this place. Here may the faithful find salvation, and the careless be awakened. Here may the doubting find faith, and the anxious be encouraged. Here may the tempted find help, and the sorrowful comfort. Here may the weary find rest, and the strong be renewed. Here may the aged find consolation and the young be inspired; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

WE CONFESS *Call to Confession *Prayer of Confession (together) Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart and mind and strength. We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us amend what we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen. *Declaration of Pardon Leader: Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel. People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. 3

*Congregational Response (together) Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, World without end. Amen, Amen. *Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed (together) I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

WE SHARE Response Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above; Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, Mount of God’s unchanging love! Life at Church of the Palms

Boy Scout Recognition Today we celebrate our Boy Scouts past, present and future. The Boy Scouts Oath is: On my honor I will do my best, to do my duty, to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. Thank you for your service!

Children’s Book Collection: Students Helping Students As her senior service project for the Riverview IB Program, Daryn Wagner is collecting children’s books for Title I schools in Sarasota County. Many of the students in these schools do not have access to books of the proper reading level. Having access to a wider variety of novels will increase the literacy rate in these schools. Any new or gently used children’s book of an elementarylevel are greatly appreciated. Books may be dropped off in the front office or on the 2nd floor of the education building during the month of February. Contact Daryn Wagner(941.539.2368, [email protected]) for more info.
