Project Concept Sports City ►

Sports such as hockey, kabaddi, badminton, tennis, football and cricket leagues have become popular in the last few years, and this requires professional and specialised sports facilities for practice and competitions

As a result, the concept of sports city has emerged. Sport Cities provide sports facilities with residential spaces available

The idea is to develop a fully integrated sports city that includes stadiums, multiple recreational and leisure zones, gyms, parks and other facilities

One such facility is Jaypee Sports City, located in Greater Noida, constructed in 2009. It comprises of various sports venues such as cricket stadium, hockey stadium and Buddh international circuit for F1 races

Objective of the Proposed Sports City The objective of the proposed sports city will be to develop an integrated sports complex that will encourage different sports and promote healthy lifestyle.

The facility will act as a venue for national and international sport events, and promote sportspersons across the country

The local population would benefit as the proposed city would encourage them to enrol in sports via membership schemes and thus promote healthy living

Youngsters who wish to take up sports as a profession would have adequate opportunities to get trained by experienced and reputed coaches

The proposed City will house a Sports Academy that will focus on research on sports medicine and also train the existing trainers (train-the-trainer programme). This will help develop professional qualified trainers who can move to the next level as coaches

Project Concept Revenue Streams The following are some revenue streams that have been identified for the proposed City: ►

Manufacturing Unit - Sport equipment are a pivotal factor in sports as these differentiate between a victory and defeat. It has been observed that certain equipment are preferred to be imported from other nations than those made in the country. The proposed manufacturing unit will manufacture high-end sports equipment that will help meet the domestic demand and requirements

Clubhouse and Restaurants – Membership fee to access the clubhouse and other facilities such as pool table, swimming pool, restaurant, coffee shop will help non-operational revenue

Accommodation – Hotels, Guest houses and dormitories are another medium that will not only provide convenience and comfort to visitors but generate revenue

Center for Sports Analytics – It is estimated that close to 5,000 persons will be employed in this field in the next few years and this can act as a source of revenue, and also meet both domestic and international demand
